Do Not Call Registry

Confusions can be cleared, but when you loose respect for and trust in someone, i think that is irreparable. The same thing happened to me with ICICI bank.

Being

unhappy i decided to end my relations with ICICI bank and now i am happily banking with other bank. Same must be true with ICICI bank. They are growing, their advertising spend has increased, they give innovative advertisement on prime time channels and so on. What still irritates me is telemarketing calls from ICICI bank executives requesting to patronize ICICI products like credit cards, housing loans, personal loans, insurance and fixed deposits.

Till recently i was simply telling them that i am not interested, thank you and have a nice day. But my ordeal doesn’t seem to have end. Telephone call at 8:30 pm is really irritating. So i  registered myself in do not call registry. In spite of having registered with DNC (Do Not Call Registry) i wonder why i am at receiving end. So i wrote fewer complaints with the bank’s higher office with a request let us not bother each other. They allocate a smart ID when you complain for telephone calls even after you register for DNC. We will get back to you within 4 working days and again one more apology is the typical response.

Seeing no end to telemarketing initiatives of bank, i recalled a scene from Hindi movie Traffic Signal, where a villain character frustrated with telemarketing calls, invites callers and treat them his own way. But i can’t do that. My muscles are as poor as complaints handling of ICICI bank.

So i prepared a questionnaire for attending telephone calls from ICICI bank telemarketers. Before they typically ask – Sir, do you own a credit card, or would you like to avail insurance policy, i decided ask them.

(1) Your good name please (2) Your office address please (3) Your designation please (4) Are you employee of bank or of an franchise (5) What is your employee ID (6) What is the name of your superior or manager …. and last but not least (7) Are you aware of DNC. And then inform them that i am neither interested in any of the products of ICICI bank nor i will be in future, please do not disturb each other and have a nice day. Simultaneously i note the details of the caller telephone number and time of call and inform the same to ICICI bank for the needful.

Thankfully ICICI bank has taken up the issue with respective callers. i reciprocate my thanks to ICICI bank for the same.
