Story:

I would like to dedicate this article to all those who hate improving themselves and are content to live their lives being the way they were born. Of late, the self help genre of books has made us realize that we lack many things which a civilized man should be having, any self help book you pick of the shelf teaches you to be a better father, mother, human being etc. Reading these books make you feel depressed and down because you are made aware of your shortcomings in a brutal manner, which in any case you knew it all right but pretended not to. Recently, I picked up a book, which exceeded my expectations; this book is written by Darrel Bristow- Bovey and is titled " I moved your cheese".

The book I thought was written on the lines of " Who moved my cheese"  by Dr Spencer Johnson, an interesting essay on rodent psychology. Reading that book taught me so much about rodents and their psychology for days after reading I felt like a rat myself. So it was with a grim sense of foreboding that I picked up this book expecting some path breaking discoveries in rodent psychology all over again. To say that I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. This book is crazily funny and it spoofs the entire genre of self-help books. The blurb itself is alluring to begin with, it says "This is the self-help book for people who want to take no steps at all. This is the self help book for people lying on the sofa".

Now, I think you get the drift of the book. The book opens with a fantastic and direct confession as to what this book is likely to offer. I would like readers to savor this killer of a line, " we are lazy, we are idle, we are downright inert and we don' t give a damn". I only wish that more people had the courage to say this instead of spending their live as pseudos and trying to live up to other people's expectations. It was Mohammad Ali who had said, " I am free to be what I want to be, I need not be what you want me to be".

This book carries that message to the hilt and describes it in a very humorous manner. The first chapter is about seeking and finding which is a fabulous spoof on the genre of spiritual and metaphysical books, I was in stitches after reading the first chapter, it was that funny. The book has seven similar chapters where Darrel Bristow has ripped apart various best selling authors; if you were familiar with these authors it would be easier to understand the humour. Darrel Bristow has used sarcasm and wit in equal measure. He tells us that everything in life can be faked which is quite true, you see politicians fake sincerity so on and so forth.

A successful man is one who can fake the best and the longest. I think you can relate this to your work place and even in your household. It is one of the essential attributes of a successful man-the ability to fake. Please read this book ? it definitely is not going to change your life, you can live the way you want to and still not feel guilty about it, this book shows the way.
