My Experience with i10 so far.... Review on Hyundai i10

I bought i10 in 2007 end to replace my Maruti Zen by default.! My initial plan was to buy Getz of Hyundai as a change from Maruti to check out superiority of these two competitors in the segment of compact but comfortable cars.

When we went to local Hyundai Phoenix dealer's show room in Evert Nagar near our residence at Sion, Mumbai, I had no idea nor any information of i10. While I started checking out a Getz model at the show room, my wife got interest in i10, a brand new model, widely promoted by the celebrity film star. In spite of my inclination for Getz, I had to finally settle for i10 as my wife insisted on getting the first available car for her own reasons and its new look.

Honestly, I felt that the price was quite high then (over Rs. 4.5 lakhs) for Era model vis-a-vis its claims, yet to be proven. We took the delivery on 25th December, a celebrated day being Christmas and went for petrol filling to nearest petrol pump at Sion.

The first jolt I had is to find that petrol that was filled much exceeded than the prescribed 35 litres tank capacity. I thought it might be a calibration error in petrol pump; but their manager refused to accept stating this anomaly exists in the tank size. So, I wrote a letter to Hyundai for clarification taking endorsement of my experience from petrol pump manager.

Till to date, I have not received any reply, which with time we have tried to forget. Since then, we have been using this car only for week end city transport, though I had a mind to take out of Mumbai for our holiday or some weekend break. Unfortunately, the sudden course of events that took place in my life.did not help me materialize that plan. In 2008 mostly we were stuck with my wife's eye surgeries and so our visits by i10 were confined. This year, her sudden loss in May has only prompted me to drive with her urn to Nasik, the first ever visit with i10 out of Mumbai.

I must admit, this car slowly has become a  part of our life due its seating comfort with sufficient leg space, easy maneuverability, decent interior with good seats, roomy glove box and nice dash board. AC is quite good and sturdy unlike my earlier Zen car. It has pretty good pick-up and stability while driving at high speeds. Of course, on mileage, I cannot comment, since in metro city like Mumbai with present disastrous situation of traffic with construction of flyovers almost every where, without any decent space for traffic movement, it is around 9km/l or lower depending on traffic jam.

This is of course with AC on. I also agree now with my wife's opinion that this car is sleek, quite good for a family of four, sturdy and so far has been trouble free for me, though I have hardly have long mileage logging. I am satisfied now and feel, it is a good purchase choice as price tag has come down and some improvement has come about that first launching model we have.
