I have been owning an Hyundai Santro Xing eRLX xo model specifically since 2007 and I feel it is kind of a dated car for the moment. The car lacks in tons of safety features like ABS, EBD, airbags, etecetra which must have already given you a negative opinion of the car. The car also lacks in features that on the least a car should provide, the best quintessentials would be a charging socket, a sunglass holder or a well placed bottle holder. This doesnot end the reign of drawbacks in the Santro Xing, what now is how practical the car is?
Well the car surely is not the best part of machinery neither do we expect it to be
But what we expect it to be is a car which drives simply but at times when the rider wants to do nasty stuff the welcomes him.
Sadly, the car doesnot have a good throttle response even the first gear is too short.
The engine is quite noisy but those are some lipstick stuff for a normal driver.
What matters to the normal driver is that his/her car oversteers.
The body roll is so much that it will scare you out of your wits.
The car looks dated and has cuts but the best part is the cuts do not flash
Modifyers are not welcome to the Santro industry as it lacks in some simple things like one cannot even attach one's amplifyer to the boot as there is no place to fix it over there, one has to place it under the front pillion seat to just break and become unfunctional.
For the ride quality I have one word
Short distances - average( no fun)
Long distances - tiresome
Front seat comfort - six footers are not completely welcome over here as the headroom would be enough but the legroom won't be a pleasure for you.
Your legs would be just hitting the music system or the door of your car
Rear seats - teenagers or short people are the only ones acknowleged
Boot - literally space is equivalent to none
One large suitcase and a small bag is what it is capable to keep.
The mileage on the car is average as compared to its competitors.
The fuel economy comes out to be 12kmpl to 14kmpl
If you are willing to buy a Santro Xing then please take my advice don't.
The clutch and the steering wheel would feel quite user friendly on the day of the test drive but it is not responsive.
I would advice you to buy an Honda Civic( used) instead in the same price which produces less to a litre but is a complete car and is not obslete as the Hyundai Santro Xing.
The civic gives you tons of respect and pleasure of riding as compared to any other car one can buy in this price range.
