I bought a Preethi Wet Grinder from hypercity at Royal Meenakshi, Banneraghatta yesterday and when I was actually looking for a wet grinder, the sales guy told me that they do not sell Wet grinders, as I was about to turn away from the section, I saw this Preethi Wet grinder at display and when I asked the sales guy why he said he did not have any, he said that it was out of stock and only 2 days ago they have got fresh stocks and it was back on display and they did not realize it.
They gave me a demo and then made me wait for about half an hour to get a "fresh piece" from their stock. They brought the package in a carton which only had a cello tape seal and not the company seal, but they said it generally comes that way and I paid for the item and went home. When I reached home and opened the box, I found a worn out wet grinder device which I'm sure was sometime a displayed piece. Only then did I notice the manufacturing date on the box and it said Jan 2010. Exactly 2 years old. Then I saw that the serial number on the device was different from that on the warranty card.
The warranty for the product itself is two years old and the product they have given me itself is 2 years old.
And that too a worn out piece which looks used. I complained with their customer care and one of the shop guys contacted me and started telling me that if in future I had any problem using the device, I could take it to him with the bill. He also said that all their Wet grinders were 2 year old stocks!
When I did not agree to keep this old item with me, he said that he would talk to his manager and get back which of course he did not. I repeatedly kept calling the store and their customer care and none seem to be bothered to put me through their store manager. Finally, they gave me a number on which I could reach their manager which was never "reachable".
In the past two weeks, I had made a purchase of close to Rs.40000 from this same store and this is the callous behavior of the staff there towards their "valued" customers. I would urge anyone reading this review NOT to go to this store to get cheated.
