Hrithik is one of the few persons I really admire in the film industry.Generally,movies for me depends on the content rather than the star cast.I hardly attend first day first shows,waiting for the initial reactions to walk into the theatre.Hrithik and Aamir are the only actors in whom I have the faith to invest a FDFS ticket.I am always sure that these guys will present something new,something innovative and never disappoint the audiences when it comes to entertaining them.

I was one of the millions who absorbed Hrithik as their silver screen idol when he blazed through in Kaho Naa Pyar Hai.But,I can say with pride,I was one of the few who stuck with him as his fan when he delivered dud after dud.Most of these movies were atrociously bad,namely Mujhse Dosti Karoge,Naa Tum Jano Na Hum and the crowning glory of disgrace:Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage.However,there were some films where he excelled beyond measure but was let down by the audience,namely Mission Kashmir and Fiza.For a 20 something guy to portray a Jehadi and then a fundamentalist in his 2nd and 3rd film takes guts,and this guy has a lot of it.

He has never disappointed as an actor,even in his bad films.The only film where I believe he was terrible was Mein Prem Ki Diwani Hoon.He tried hamming it up,jumping and dancing;but not all can be SRK.

What are his strenghts?Firstly,his looks.Remember the shot from Dhoom 2 when he shows his real face to Ash for the first time?The whole 1 minute sequence showcased why Hrithik is a real Indian Adonis.Next,his dance.People have screamed hoarse on his outstanding dancing skills.So,I am not going to add anything further.Thirdly,his sincerity.How many people will jump from a tall cliff 10 times just to get the shot right?How many people will stand up after a life-threatening stunt and perform it again?You can hardly count.One of my friends is a dancer in Shiamak Davar’s troupe and he was telling me how hard working he is.Hrithik’s dance isn’t a natural talent.It is a combination of enthusiasm and extreme hard work.

The biggest plus point of Hrithik would have to be his will to do something different in each film a la Aamir.Okay,now his detractors would say that he has played a lover boy in most films.That’s about 5 films.Other then that he has played a Jihadi,a mentally challenged person,a soldier,A superhero and a super villain,a mughal emperor.If you work it in terms of percentages you’ll find that his gamut of roles outstrips most people in Bollywood,the only person bettering him would be Aamir.

Like any actor he has his weaknesses.His biggest bane would be his dialogue delivery.Not in terms of the emotion portrayed,but in terms of what he actually says.Sometimes,it is a bit too soft for the audience to understand.Coupled with his slightly nasal voice,it does prove a problem.Other times,he speaks a bit too fast.A fact very evident in Lakshya,though he managed to curb it in films after that.

Hrithik detractors have this huge complaint:Only films with his dad work.A highly farcical argument which reeks of frustration if you ask me.Was Jodhaa Akbar a Rakesh Roshan film?Dhoom 2 is number 6 in the top grossing movies of all time.Was that a Rakesh Roshan flim?Mission Kashmir though not a huge success,was definitely a profit earner(check BoxofficeIndia.com)For such people,I have a question.How many films outside the Yash Raj and KJo camp has SRK given hits?The figures are emabrassing to say the least.An actor should not be judged with whom he works,but by the quality of his work.And Hrithik has plenty of quality.
