This is my first broad band use at home so I really dont have anything to compare it to than dial up.
Run with primus tech hotwire is a provider in delhi. Its packages are quite competitive in
price range compared to other providers. The good thing was they are providing unlimited access for 1000 bucks(10.2% tax extra) at 64kbs. Though spectranet and bharti provide it at a lower price and at a lower bandwidth but this is the only one presently available in east delhi.
I have noticed it for long but I did ask others in my residential colony before getting it installed. Speed is average to good. Downloads are at a speed of 10kbps with download accelerator (I do not use microsofts default downloader) and drops to 7-8 if you are browsing sites, running one-two other downloads.
Site access is fairly good , big sites though tend to slow down :(
Ill ammend this review as I use the service more and more

After having used it for a month what I can add is:-
The speed is good for simple browsing, for light downloading. Maybe upto 100 mb but if you are looking to download large stuff like movies etc. This connection will take a lot of time (64kbps) service at the level of my franchise fairly prompt, ofcourse that will vary from place to place.
The down time is somewhat high ...never counted it though, might be something like 10-20%( cant be sure on that front, but its high thats for sure)
another trouble is, many a times I get disconnected from the network automatically, so have to relogin. Can be a bit irritating when you are leaving it connected to perform a download.
Few sites heavy on pics etc would tend to run slow
Ofcourse to call it broadband is wrong ,as according to goi now it has to be 256kbps, but i think it is the most you can expect (in india) if u r looking for unlimited connection at a fairly affordable price range

The downtime is quite irritating. Ofcourse the franchisee has an excuse up his sleeve. Its not that it will not be fixed/attended to when complained, but it being there is troublesome itself.
Also a frequent problem( this is not limited to single franchisee) is the user getting auto matically log out every now and then. Very exasperating when you are downloading .
Upload speed is very low (1/4th of d/l speed) . So if you are into file sharing or sending big files online, it would be faster to get on a bullock cart and deliver the file to the far end of the world
remember b4 subscribing to this service. Bsnl (if applicable for you) is proposing 256 kbps adsl at 700 bucks.
Airtel is offering hoteires speed(64) at lower rate and double speed(128) at hotwires rate(around 1000)
