I have gone through the reviews posted on this site about this hotel and I must say I have been fortunate enough to have a very good stay experience at this hotel.

The only thing that I faced

after reading this review was that the food is not upto the mark in this hotel..otherwsie I didnt face any problem.

Ooty lakeview is situated nearthe ooty lake..at a distance of about 2 kms..though theres no view of the lake that can be seen.As shown in the photograph it has cottages lined on a terraced hill.The path to the hotel is very cut off from the main city area and for a change is away from the hustle bustle.

The reception area and dining area are in a seperate building and are very decent.We had booked a Non a/c deluxe cottage ( since we were on a budget tour..this was the hotel and room fitting our pockets).I was excited about the fireplace feature too but I was told that for our choice of room it wasnt available though a heater could be provided.

The moment I checked into the room I felt like I was reliving the old air force mess days..My father retired from the IAF and during our postings we stayed in similar looking cottages.The furniture and the curtains everything reminded me of some ols govt quarters rustic charm.I loved the room at the very instant..a small balcony with a view of the road and other cottages and the hills at a distance...the 4 seater dining table and sofas..the flowery brown curtains which went very well with the furniture colour and the cosy bedroom with a nice view and a dresing table next to it.The rooms are very spacious and the bathroom I felt was even bigger than the rooms!Everything was neatly maintained and I had absolutely no regrets that i had chosen this one!

We visted the resturant of this hotel for the dinner..I had kept in mind what the reviews said about the food but there was no escape I guess because it was raining heavily and there was no option than to eat here.I must say that the food is not upto the mark especially the north indian gravies.Soups ,chapptis/naans and  rice items are decent but the curries..try at your own risk..I wont say they are inedible but yes..you do deserve something better.But considering the cottage I didnt have any regrets redaing the food too.

Its very usual to stay in a proper hotel room with all amenities and indulge.But I have a feeling that one must try something different especially when you are visiting a scenic place (I dont feel that ooty is a scenic place..I liked the cotage and its view more than anythin esle in ooty!).Not everyone can afford resorts and when you are getting all the comforts plus a chance to live in a old fashined nice cosy little cottage with all the privacy in the world that you desire and that too at a reasonable price away from the noisy city crowd..why not go for it?
