Based on Rekha’s excellent review, I decided to try out Arya Niwas, Jaipur and I was not disappointed.
Though I think many may not like it because...
1. No Room Services except
tea coffee and toast
2. No Bar. [I liked it for the same reason]
3. Vegetarian except egg curry.
4. Rooms are smaller compared to most other similar hotels.
5. Limited menu
But I liked it because
1. The hotel is clean, CLEAN, C.L.E.A.N. Neither the lobby nor rooms had any smells. No food food smells. No Room freshners smell. And no room service helps.
2. No bar helps keeping away certain type of customers.
3. Though limited menu, it had few items which were different from run of the mill menus. The food with minimum oil asnd masalas, just like home cooked food.
Also there were few unusual iteams due to a large foreigner clientle. [This despite it being a vegetarian hotel]
I had my 5 years quota of Kheer in the week I was there.
4. Taking your tea or cake out in the long clean verandah or lawn was refreshingly relexed experienc.
Preferably book [01412372456] before going because even in July which is low season for Jaipur the hotel was near full. Auto / Riksha walas will tell you it is no good hotel. Probably unlike all hotels in tourist cities they do not pay any commision to them.
