We went last weekend . based on some recommendations from friends and a lot of blogs reviews online.
The place is not too great. The "hill station" starts and ends in a 500 mt radius.
Well, to start with, I had to go all the way to AP tourism office, to do hotel booking. the people there - too lazy to give any kind of info, no reference images of what the accomodation is like.( room tariff was 700-2300, so I wanted to know what kind of facilities are available). All I got was a small pamphlet which gave a 2 inch image of the room, and some info on local attractions.
Still enthusiastic, we left early last wednesday, with gymgear/sneakers for trekking/rappling etc kind of activities mentioned on the pamphlet. We were some 8-10km from the hills, but there was no feeling of the same - It all seemed barren and dry. And once we reached horsley, it seemed to get over even before it started.
We checked into our room, which was as basic an accomodation as it could get. We still tried to be excited about the trip.Went towards the numerous signages of tourist attractions. But to no avail. Nothing seemed to be even remotely exciting. We went towards the pool, and adventures- burma bridge etc. It all seemed soo unsafe - no proper equipment, no proper guides. We did not even bother trying it out.
There is a hotel Devdas just outside the governors bunglow - someone on a blog had recommended it. By the look of it, we did not dare to try it also . Dinner at the bunglow was decent. We wanted to leave back soon( we had planned 3 days - 2 nights). We thought of cancelling reservation for day 2, but since there was no money refund, we decided o continue.
We got up the next morning, and the only thing that was on our minds was to get out of that place asap. Without having a bath, without bothering about the money we would lose, we collected our stuff and decided to leave. We had really not even opened our suitcase!
And lastly, we did not bother clicking even one pic:(
