Unicorn is my first bike i bought this bike in jan 2006. it is second model which has some graphics with spoke wheels.
I chose kick start to save a little bit of money but still regreating that decision.
my friend bought with electric start , electric start of unicorn is best in all bikes. just one touch no khir khir etc.
I learned driving on my brand new bike so you can expect few stunts with new bike. so i met a kind of accident on second day itself , suddenly somebody came in front of me and i as you know had (24 hour driving experince ) so pressed disk break and on the ground but nothing happend .
My unicorn got few scratches on headlight ( they are still there to remind me to drive carefully) , first i thought to change it , but technichian told me to keep it as you might get few more skids\stunts during your learning phase.
As you know once things becomes past , it never happens. so still i have those scratches on my bike.
Till now i have spent 200 Rs on my bike ( all because of 4-5 punctures ), its tuff up tube is amazing.
when i went to fix one ( in my observation as it was too big) puncture. the puncture guy found 5 puntures as other four were temporarily fixed by tuffup( liquid).
But frankly speaking i did not get a single good honda service center in pune and here ( hyderabad ).
all just do is cleaning ( with water).
The most irritating thing in honda unicorn is its baterry , or horn. its so stupid i dont know what the hell it has problem , but when bike is slow i have to ask the person in front of my bike to give me side as its engine sound is too low ( in this case its negative point :) ) , when you press accelerator and then press horn it works fine but if engine speed is around 10-20 KMPH , even driver can not hear it.
Normally ppl say bikes color will get fade if you stand it in direct sunlight, i always do , nothing happend.
accessories given by service center with my bike like rear mirror , seat cover, leg guard , sadi guard etc were very low standard you can see the difference in within first 1 month.
I strongly suggest if you want to learn bike go for Unicorn as its too easy to drive. and ofcource safer than any bike ( use both breaks and bike will stop straight don worry about skidding).
Bikes accelleration is good, but when bike is in reserve it will have less power ( acceleration , its my observation).
but when i see unicorn i feel it should have broader rear tyre , with alloy wheel , should start giving basic accessories as service center guys are just hopeless.
should have good horn ( loud ). i dont know whats wrong with battery .
should have trip meter as everybody has to do some calculation for milage ( few months in begging).
my bike is giving good milege ( 50 - 56 always ) half city half highway daily 30 KM drive.
bikes engine,grear box,frame ( no rust , total alloy) is amazing, ( whatever comes from honda is good quality ).
after 3.5 year now i feel shock absorber is not working properly, feel little hard\rough with single person ( need to visit honda service center with no hope :) ).
Last and final word is you will never ever regret your decision to buy honda unicorn.
Its good in all sense , recent model is even good looking with alloy wheel black engine etc.
but check your accessories quality.
