8 years and 60000km - A Blessing

Its been 8 years and 60, 000Kms, and this I believe would be a right time to sketch out a very depict review. Being a teenager I chose my bike back in 2006 among the lights of the mighty pulsars, Stylish apaches and the hooligan CBZ. This ordinary looker stole my heart in every spec I could find of it. Being a mechanical engineer I knew every detail of the technical capabilities of a well balanced bike and this Unicorn had the perfect ingredients to put it up straight on top.

Looks:

Unicorn has never been a head turned but I feel my 2006 unicorn looks far better than the recent unicorns but it can never be compared the beefy pulsars or the robust apaches but trust me this bike looks ordinary but cooks extra ordinary.

About me and my Riding:

To begin I am known to be one among the most rashest riders ever and I mention this not to boast but to exhibit the stability of the engine which has made it all the way without any flaw till date. I usually race a lot with my unicorn and put the tall gearing of the vehicle to maximum usage to gain the maximum output during the races. I have never lost to any Pulsar, FZs, Dazzlers, Rx 135, Suzuki Shaolin, yamaha SZ, Suzuki Gsx-R, Triggers, Fazers, CBZ nor the latest editions of Unicorn either. My model unicorn to be precise is far more powerful than the current Unicorns. Maybe because I sported a lighter spoke wheel and skinny tyres which were stock from the old unicorns. But the RTR 160, Cbz Xtreme, R15's(4 valve) can really threaten a big competition or in most cases steal a win while racing.

Comfort During long rides:

Though I ride mostly in thrash mode I do love long rides on my unicorn simply because it has been so reliable in every encounter I ve used it. I have done stretches of 1600kms without any fuzz, the wide seats give you all the space and the well leveled handles ensure a very sensuous long riding journey. But one would definitely need an iron butt to do miles like those and its not as easy as you think doing distances like those. Even when the bike feels at ease the human body will start to feel the heat in your butt region after a 300km range irrespective of what bike your riding. The Gearbox is as smooth as cheese one can simply keep shifting gears just for the heck of it. The engine too is very refined and gives you a more relaxed state of mind during every throttle response. The top speed achieved on this machine till now was 122Kmph on bangalore highway, well it did vibrate like hell at that extreme moment I guess lol.

Maintenance:

The maintenance was always on the low side and never have I faced any serious issues regarding maintenance. I have dropped my vehicle maybe 8 to 9 times in this 8 years by trying out some new stunts and stuff but this never affected its smoothness or character of the engine. It has always been a dream cream to operate.

Handling:

Since am having it for quite some time now it has been a glider to me and I can control it like none other. I can twist and turn this unicorn when and however I wish to turn it and yes it is a very sweet handler and the long wheelbase does ensure awesome straight line stability and an awesome pillion comfort. And never will you feel scared if your well used to the handling of this machine.

Safety:

This is one area which truly amazes me to learn even after a 80kmph hit on a running dog, 6 stunt falls,  2 city crashes and atlast I fell into a muddy pit due to a truck deflection this bike has never even left me with a single bruise. This was destined to be my holy unicorn I hope. The bike has a unique riding posture which I feel helps immensely during a fall that is simply tucks you inside the vehicle. Being a 74kg I have felt totally secure under the wings of this Unicorn.

Mileage:

The million dollar question:) Never have I given a damn about mileage but have done a few technical check to learn the capabilities of the machine which are:

During my demon racing thrash mode in city riding single: 42 kmpl

At mostly single riding in the city at 60 kmph: 54 kmpl

Riding with pillion in city @ 50kmph: 46 kmpl

Single riding Constant @ 50kmph on highway:68 kmpl

Single riding on highway @ 80kmph: 45 kmpl

On an average expect 50 kmpl as a stable value.

Conclusion:

I fell in love and I bet you will too because its not a bike but a BLESSING:)
