I bought my new Honda Amaze SMT diesel car on 10th October from Coastal Honda as this model was not available immediately in Hubli and so far has driven more than 1000 kms. The experience with Coastal Honda was quite good and they delivered the car as promised.
This is a great value for money product from Honda with great looks, amazingly spacious inside, can comfortably fiit in 3 people at the rear, good boot space & overall fit & finish is good. Music system quility is good.
Performance: So far clocked more than 1000 kms the pick up is excellent as the engine is powerful & therefore can drive comfortably in city without changing gears frequently. On the highways the car is impressive. Though most of the people say that engine is bit noisy, I do not find it that noisy as claimed in many reviews.
The pick up is linear and you will not find immediate pull once you cross the 1800 - 2000 rpm like the Fiat engine that are found in most popular diesel cars. The clutch is smooth and the steering feel is excellent in city & on high way. The turning radius is small which is very advantageous while in city driving.
Features: I earlier owned a 90BHP Grande Punto Emotion pack which was loaded with host of features! & I had compromised a lot on the features for the Amaze. The music system in Amaze do not have a mute button on the steering wheel, no auto lock of doors & no climate control AC even on the top end version.
When you look at the rear boot cover the steel structure is exposed and you will be convinced how Honda has compromised on the basics just to keep the cost low! A good quality plastic panel was very much required for the boot cover. There is only one trip meter unlike 2 trip meters even in an i10 car.
Mileage: Though my car claimed a mileage of 22 kms / litre for the combined highway & city driving but with the actual calculation is came to only 19! I will have to get it checked during my first service. Now within city the mileage meter shows 17 which is satisfactory for the car of this size.
Overall its a good product from Honda and one can see from their monthly sales figures for this car. The body is also not as light as a maruti car. Honda claims that they have not compromised on the thickness of the body but have reduced the weight of the engine as it an all aluminum engine for the highest mileage in this class.
