Home town is yet another feeble attempt to provide value for money products and services to India.

About a month ago, I purchased a sofa set for which I made a part payment and was given a delivery date for 30 days later (product is apparently made-to-order and dispatched from Mumbai) . Subsequently the remainder of the payment was made after 10 days to ensure an on-time delivery.

Half way through the wait period and one fine morning, I received a call from the store telling me that my sofa set had arrived. My satisfaction was short lived when I was informed "Sir, please make the remaining payment because your delivery is on hold"!!

On a thorough description of my transactional details, The store admitted that their accounts department in Mumbai did not receive details of the 2nd payment! (Here’s where I began to wonder whether the store is set up to network with it’s various operating units!). I was asked to bear with them till the evening till the matter is sorted out.

I bore with them for the next 13 days!

Multiple bouts of frustration and telephone calls later. I was informed that the sofa set would be delivered the next day.

"Fitting" on the other hand would happen the day after. The store even informed me of two persons "assigned" for fitting the sofa set.

Two days have passed since and I have probably talked to at least 10 people since my ordeal began, and I am still waiting for the fitters to ring my doorbell.

It is purely a waste of time and energy to step into Home Town Bangalore. Think twice before buying anything that needs delivery and assembling. There are far better neighboring stores where you would most certainly get your money’s worth in services and sanity.
