Very often we go hammer and tongs about products and gizmos which are actually so insignificant in nature. So I waited for a long time to write on something more meaningful and more solid. It all started when I had to visit a close relative who had undergone an operation at the Holy Family Hospital. Since my childhood in Delhi I had known a great deal about the hospital, that it is run by a team of dedicated doctors and nurses and a management that considers service of ordinary people it's primary motto. Well, in a time where doctors have no time for the ordinary folks and money is the sole criterion for hospitals and doctors alike, it was reassuring to see a hospital work on the principle of care and healing. Maybe the hospital has no fancy dome or expensive lighting and tiles all over its premises, it's still among the Delhi's best place to get treated. Apart from the doctors, it's the nursing staff that needs all kudos. Many of them hailing from Kerala and the North east, they epitomise gentle behaviour, loving care and professional skills. The way they take care of the ailing patients and those who are recuperating, it's an experience in humility. We need to appreciate the slogging that they do, so that our folks in the hosptial recover from their physical ailments. Though personally I have not had the misfortune of getting strapped on to a hospital bed, but I have visited ailing friends and relatives in various hospitals all across the city. The dazzling lights and gleaming tiles of expensive hospitals can never take away the pristine glory of a hospital like the Holy Family Hospital.
