I've read a lot of Sci-Fi and fantasy books over the years and found this one to be very well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat with what's coming up next.
Even though it was written many years ago it is still relavant today. Tolkien has a way with words that keeps you interested in not ony the characters but the country in which they are travelling to and from. His character descriptions make you feel like you could reach out and touch the character and therefore you feel like you're part of the story line, which in turn keeps you totally immersed in the story.
I would recoommend this book to people of all ages and no matter what your interest. Now that I've read the first book, I'm heading out to get the remainder of them. Once I've finished with all the books in the seriers I just might want to watch the movie.
