My request to anyone thinking of buying an A/c whether split or window is, please. please go for any other brand but Hitachi.


Their service standards are very very poor and from the 80’s better known as the’License Raj’ era. If there was a negative star rating I could give on MouthShut I would have given.


I had bought a 1.5 tonne A/c around 2 years back in Bangalore and it worked Ok.


However I believe its performance is mediocre, definitely not at par with the premium that this brand charges its customers. Neither the cooling is that great, nor its very silent, it creates its fair share of noise. Bottom line: The service of Hitachi is extremely poor and delayed and there is no consideration for the customers pain.


They are just a Big Brand and making the sales due to their name, nothing else. Go for a brand that gives you a good and quick service or at least sets your expectations right. If you want to know the details, pls read on: Till last year this unit was working fine, however this feb, when I did a test run, it was not cooling at all and blowing air at room temperature. I lodged a complaint on 24th Feb and got a service request number and that was about it.


Since it was feb and the weather was quite Ok, I did not bother to follow up.However in 2-3 weeks later in march 3rd week when the weather got hot I started following up with the customer service number of Hitachi. The call-center executive on the other end told me that 2-3 weeks delay is certainly an anomaly and it should not have taken that long for servicing. He gave me the number of their authorized dealers one M/s ’Classic Air Conditioning’ in JP Nagar+91-9538266691/92, who I called and he sent the two novice looking engineers on 19th March. Now the fun starts, they both neither knew English, Kannada or Hindi, they knew’Malyalam’ which I don’t. They just said in broken language that the Gas has leaked and needs to be recharged. I asked them to check the unit thoroughly for the leak, plug it and then re-charge it. They checked and said there is no leak, sometimes it happens. We will fill it up with new gas and it will be fine. Charged me INR 3000/-. This worked fine and the cooling was Ok. However within 2-3 weeks the problem re-surfaced and the A/c stopped cooling. I lodged a new complaint on 10-04-2016 and have followed up with them 7-8 times and called the local dealers around 25-30 times to no avail. They are just sitting on it and have not bothered to call or at least let me know as to when they will service.
