If you are learning a programming language for the first time and have decided to embrace the Java as your consort, then nothing can get better than this book. You will wildly enjoy your programming ride.
The explanation is so good even a layman can understand the concepts. The way of explaining the concepts with diagrams(with little of bit humor) makes it easier to understand the concepts. The style of the book is very different, the authors say it as Metacognition - knowing about knowing.
The authors Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates are the same people who designed the Sun certified Exams like SCJP and wrote the study guide. Their fresh approach to technical tutorial writing is superb. The book uses a lot of humour and whacky pictures and stories to explain Dry Technical concepts in such a way that you ll remember.
I would definitely recommend this to any person who is new to Java and wants to build a good foundation for the language.
