Hey there guys,
I know everyones been blaming Hathway left and right. I read about 115 reviews and the all say the same thing, THE CUSTOMER CARE SUCKS! Yes, I agree with them ofcourse, since I
too have undergone their Customer CARE Service.
But let me just give you my experience about Hathway:
It was a sunny morning on a sunday in September (2007) when I was reading the morning paper that I found the Hathway flyer by the paper, The flyer said "Speeds upto 512 kbps @ 500 Rs." I didnt have an Internet Connection back the so I thought, hey what the heck lets give it a try. I called the salesman up and he said that he would verify if he could provide me with a connection, 20 min. later I got a call saying that connections were availiable in my area, So I told him to come to my house the next day.
He showed me a list of availiable plans, from which I like the 256 kbps unlimited @ Night 8 to 8 for 450 Rs. per month. I opted for the Night Bird plan, The wiring was done 2 days later and the engineer came with the modem the same day. Everything was working A OK, then the problems started. For September there was a lot of disconnections, I called up their numbers and they usually told me that it was a signal problem. Fed up after a while I called em up again and fired them left and right.
Since then everything has been a smooth sailing, Although I did get disconnected once or twice, but thats excuseable.
Ive downloaded more than 17 GB in the past six months. I find that their connection quality is great but only the customer service is the problem.
Note:
For those less tech savvy guys Hathway isnt cheating you ,
If you are on a 256 kbps plan you should get around 32 KBps speed, Its 256 kilobits per second 1/8th of which becomes your download speed in KILOBYTES per second ie. 256/8 = 32
Same applies for 512 kbps users you should get around 64 KBps.
