I bought this laptop almost 2 years
back for a hefty sum of Rs.40000. The laptop configuration is 1.6GHz
Intel Celeron M processor, 512MB DDR2 RAM, 60GB HDD, 15"
display, DVD Combo drive, WLAN
with Bluetooth etc. The laptop’s
build is strong. I must have dropped the laptop at least a couple of
times, but the laptop hasn’t been damaged. The laptop has a
comfortable keyboard. Many other laptops these days have strange
placement of the arrow keys and other keys like home, insert, end,
delete etc. The placement of keys on this laptop is as on a desktop
computer keyboard. So, even though I was coming from desktop
computers, it didn’t take me long at all to get adjusted with the
laptop’s keyboard. The touchpad has a scroll zone. It comes handy,
like scroll wheel on a mouse. The rubber coating on the touch pad’s
buttons gets eroded after 1 year of use or so. There are no volume
control / media shortcut keys provided on the laptop. I sincerely
miss these keys on the laptop. The laptop has 2 USB ports,
VGA/External Monitor Connector, RJ-45 Port (NIC), RJ-11 Port (Modem),
IEEE 1394a Port, etc – most of which I never need to use. The DVD
Combo drive fixed with the laptop is extremely delicate and stops
working if it is not in regular use. In my case, the drive stopped
working a year and a half after I had bought the laptop. The laptops
stereo speakers have good sound quality; good enough to play games
like COD and NFS-UG2 or playing occasional music. The laptop battery
comes for around 2.5 hours. This is way below what HP has claimed on
their website, but is still good enough when travelling short
distances. The laptop also has a port for attaching secondary
battery. The laptop doesn’t get heated up too much even when
charging, and can actually be used as a “lap”-top. Overall, I can
say that buying this laptop has been a costly, but good investment
for me.
