I have HDFC Ergo insurance particularly for critical illness(there are 12 major illness listed including cardiac problem). I insured  for 21 Lakhs  and  brought in 2013. Last month I had chest pain and shivering and after doing TMT test doctor advised to do Angiograme. In angiogram test they found two major block and suggested to do Angioplasty. I have spent 2 lakhs 55 thousand for my treatment.


After two weeks I put a claim for the same and immediately HDFC refused the claim and sent me an email by quoting their policy wording "angioplasty" is a clear exclusion in their policy. But when I taken insurance they did not reveal any policy wording and given only 12 critical illness list.


They also very poor in customer service. After rejecting the claim I contacted several times in phone and customer service rep. saying your claim under processing. When asking about the rejection letter they are not aware and not updated the system. Be careful while taking this kind of insurance.
