I hold an hdfc credit card with a credit limit of 50k. Everybody asked me not to get a credit card but I thought to myself, how worse can it get to handle 50k when am already under a debt of 4 lakh rupees education loan; with a nominal salary of 25k.
With this, I bought 3 smart phones, 1 television, 1 trip to ooty, 1 IT course; all worth more than 10000.Wondering how I did it? EMI is your answer. I converted all transactions for 36months emi because the interest rate was low. I am paying an average of 2800/month, after 8months my current credit limit is 12000.
I paid some long time outstanding bills and wanted to convert that into emi, but the bank wont let me now. I am sure about figuring out a way for this, sooner.About customer service, the first time I called the Bangalore call center, it was an horrible experience. Then I called Kolkata call centre and believe me the experience was amazing and my problems got fixed. The reason is probably simple, when you have less job opportunity in your city; you got to be a serious at your job.P.S. To hold a credit card without regretting, make sure you keep earning and stay in good health.
