Cons:
Bad music, smoky atmosphere

This is a review I should have written in Nov ’03 when I actually visited Guzzler’s inn, but didn’t know that there was a forum where I could actually voice my opinions.

Anyway
during my vacation in Nov. 2003, I visited Bangalore, after being away for almost four years. The city I love has transformed into something else, what with all my favorite haunts either closed or ’’improved’’. I did expect change though, but not such a drastic one.

Was not much of a pub crawler when I was a student in Bangalore, preferring to get my monthly dose of beer on some of the ’’dhabas’’ on Bellary Road or Mysore road (near my school RVCE). Nothing like drinking beer in the smoke-free open air.

But as a matter of being polite to my cousin, I was forced to be a more civilized host, so took him to the first pub I could find, which happened to be Guzzler’s Inn. The beer was good and reasonably priced, the pub had an ambience for people who could focus on drinking, but that’s all there is to it. The music was too loud to conduct a conversation and on top of that the last thing I want to hear in a pub is Bryan Adams/Scorpions/Nirvana/Pearl Jam.
The staff were courteous and the entrees were well priced and edible. But the choices were limited, because the pub was one hour from closing for the day (come on the night is still young at 11.00 p.m.)
Finally, when I wanted to pay the check, they had a strange preference for a Visa card.

This is a pub you can go to , not with your date, but with your buddy and if you don’t want to break the bank to have a good time. Conspicuously absent was the omnipresent bouncer or a dance floor, which is good if all you want to do is have a drink. For the closet drinker it is conveniently hidden away in one of the alleys.

Overall its not a great pub, but would do if you are not going to a pub just to be seen in it.
