Gulliver's travels may not appeal to present day readers. its a fanciful tale set in fanciful country and in fanciful times. the story is about a sailor called gulliver who is often shepwrecked and who finds himself amongst giant people, very small people and faraway lands.
It gained popularity in its days because underneath the story it describes the erstwhile politics of england. the english is old fashioned. it can be compared with robinson crusoe. gullivers travels passages appear in many english textbooks till present day as sample prose.
