Gulf Air dominates certain routes like Chennai - Bahrain. Just because we dont have a choice Gulf Air thinks that they can treat us any way they want.
I had a confirmed ticket from Manama to Chennai
on a thursday evening. I had reached the Manama airport 3 hours before the scheduled time and to my surprise I was told that the flight is full and cannot be accomodated. Like me there were atleast 12 families running from pillar to post to get accomodated..... :(
I was to get engaged on Friday and I was desperate to fly that day. I literally begged them for a seat atleast for a seat in any of the flights flying to Bangalore or hyderabad. In curteous attendants didnt even care to respond they were very harsh and literally it was like shooing me away like a begger.
Attendant said that it was a regular practice to do a over booking and that day it was overbooked and they cant help me out in any way, He said that all other flights to Hyderabad,Mumbai and Bangalore were also full. I didnt understand why on earth do they say that the tickets are confirmed and what it means. If they can let people travel based Gulf Air’s wills and wishes why do they confirm the tickets.
I called up my travel guy and shouted at him. Then he rechecked and said there was a flight to Hyderabad and he can book me in. I was asking the same with the Gulf air guy but he said flight was already full and cannot accomodate me. Then I had paid an extra of 7K to get my ticket rebooked to hyderdrabad. Inspite of all the pains I could not make it to my engagement on time.
I will never ever even dream to fly on Gulf.
In another incident, While travelling from Chennai, I had requested for a Aisle seat, But the Person at the counter said, the flight is full and he can give me a window seat, and only one aisle seat is available in the last row. I accepted it and after entering the flight I saw almost 14 Rows of the flight was empty unoccupied.
Tickets are much much costlier when compared to emirates or other flights... inspite of paying them more.. we get treated like Dogs.
