For such a small country The Netherlnds really has a huge brewing and dsitilling industry. It is famous for the likes of Dutch gin,advocaat,a number of liquers and some fine lager beers including Heineken, Hertog, Amstel and the best of the lot Grolsch In this country the position of Master Brewer is greatly honoured and Grolsh have been brewing great beers since 1615. Now that is a heck of a long time so they do know quite a lot about the science and art of brewing.
The brewery is close to the border with Germany at a place called Groenlo,otherwise more popularly known as Grolle. The secret of this premium lager lies in the high quality of the ingredients used and the so-called ''traditional bottom fermentation process ''. The upshot is one of Europe's great lagers with an alcohol by volume (ABV) content of 5% and a reutation as a thoroughly refreshing and quality product. Even the bottle= the swing top bottle with the nice grren logo of Grlsh-is both distinctive and a glass blower's masterpiece. Today Grolsh fortunately has expanded far beyong its native country and is available in more than 50 countries world wide. I am delighted to say it is brewed in the UK and easily available.I believe it is available in India too. Buy it in packs of five-not only is this more economical but you get five lovely bottles. This is a thirst quenching,refined lager which is very ,very moorish. I hope 5 is enough for you !
This Dutch lager is a great drink alone product but it also well with food,especially spicy food such as Tex Mex, Thai and fiery Indian curries.
