Cons:
Climax, Nayan Tara

Walked in with my brother and friend to Trivandrum new theater. Had heard mixed response about the movie and wasnt very sure what to believe....
Ghajini tells the story of Sanjay[surya], a guy with
Short term memory loss. HE remembers nothing but what happened 15 minutes ago. Without the photos he carries, the writings on the walls on his house, and details tattooed on his body, his memory is a blank. He goes around with a cropped head, with a scar on the head that resembles the joints on a tennis ball. He kills people cold bloodedly, but we get to know that the ultimate target is Pradeep Ravat from the photo he takes around.
The flashback unfolds through many characters. First through the inspector who is after Sanjay [Riaz], then through Nayan Tara, a medical student whose project is based on Sanjay’s memory loss, both reading Sanjay’s diary.
What gruesome past has reduced a Billionaire to living in a dinghy flat, and going around killing people? What happened to his lover Kalpana [Asin]? What would finally happen of Sanjay? These questions haunt us every moment, till the climax...
Enter the climax, the best option is to walk out of the theater. Had I not seen the climax, I would have given 5/5 for this movie. But the climax raises so many questions that one wonders where Murugadoss has earned his degree in messing up such a good movie. It has nothing but some high flying actions that defies all gravity, Nayantara’s horrible over action and some senseless direction.
About the cast-
Surya is awesome. Sanjay is safe in his hands, his expressive eyes flash every emotion possible, and seriously he is one reason why people dont walk out of the theater at the time of the climax. Asin, god!!! She is adorable, her character is so sweet, and she wears modern clothes without being vulgar. Pradeep Rawat is tolerable. But the biggest cropper in the movie is Nayan Tara. She looks sick when she exposes. She has a beer-belly, she’s fat and looks like her meals consist only of ice cream. Only one thing I want to tell her is that if you are not maintaining your figure please stop exposing. You just gross out people! I felt like rolling over and vomiting at her over action and song sequence.
A couple of songs are good but no song fits into the movie. First half and the first half of the second half has you at the edge of your seat. But over all, when you rate the movie, you feel that it has been robbed of the accolades it deserves because of the climax. A ladies hostel of 100 odd people stand watching a girl being shot and stripped, where as it took only 5 minutes for police to arrive at the same place to catch a night time intruder. Nayan tara runs around in rain with clothes soaked to the skin, searching surya- one has to remember that she was talking on his cell phone 5 minutes before that. Why go around looking for him again? Cant she call him on the cell? And why is surya going and killing all and sundry when he is rich enough to hire an army of professional killers. A whole factory of 100 odd men cant catch a running girl [that too a fat, sluggish Nayan tara... ] The fact that all these stupid questions come out in the climax, suggests how badyly written the climax is.
