I purchased a Genus Home UPS 650 for my old age parents living independently in Meerut in Apr'15. I chose Genus based on its claim of product quality assurance being of international standards. But this product has already failed 3 times in a short span of 6 months. First time its cooling fan was not working from begining and two times internal fuse blown. The cause of failure of internal fuse blown was told by service engineer as due to CFL getting fused. CFL getting fused is a common phenomenon and can not be controlled or predicted beforehand.
Every time a failure is there, it causes tension and inconvenience to my aged parents. It is true that it is attended by your service engineer, but it takes some time. It seems that Genus inverter is designed for international market and not fit for Indian conditions. There is some manufacturing defect in this particular piece due to which it is failing repeatedly otherwise an international quality product is not supposed to have such frequent failure. I requested for replacement of the product against my complaint no. SR151007011, so that my parents can live peacefully, but not accepted by them as they replace the product only if there are atleast 5 failure of PCB.
Based on my experience I will not recommend to go for International quality of Genus inverter and buy a inverter suitable for Indian condition. As a costomer, my expectation from the product was that it should work troublefree in normal circumstances. For example I will like to have a car which is suitable for Indian road, not a car which gets breakdown due to a small pothole in the road as I can not build a road suitable for the car.
