Hi, guys! Yup, this is it. The alma mater of being a writer. The pinnacle of achievement. The honour of the highest order. Oh, yes! I have completed 50 reviews on
mouthshut.com, a milestone which I will
cherish till the end of eternity.
’’It is not the destination which is important, it is the journey that counts.’’ I couldn’t afree with this ancient saying more. As I look back at how much I have progressed, this destination seems to be become more enjoyable simply because of the magnificient journey that preceeded it.
MY CANDID CONFESSIONS I must admit that when I joined mouthshut, I had little or no idea about the website and its various features. For example, the categories of ’’Star Writer’’, ’’High Ranked Product/Service’’ and ’’Low ranked Product/Service’’ were unknown to me. Even the latest 50 reviews column lay hidden from my eyes. Whew! I must be blind when I first joined the site. But it was only after a couple of reviews that these things came up and stared me in the face! Enough of my confessions, leave your secrets behind in the comments section.
THE TIME FACTOR I have completed my 50 reviews in less than three months, a fact which prompted envyram to call me the Afridi of mouthshut. Roughly, I have been writing one review every two days! But I have made an earnest and sincere effort to make sure that the quality of my reviews does not suffer due to quantity.
THE MOUTHSHUT MEMBER Mouthshut has become more than a website in my book. It is a family of awakened individuals who have decided to express their power through the right of free speech. The mouthshut member usually is well-informed aand wellread on current issues/topics due to a large family of people supplying accurate and adequate information to him.
The Ideal Member Think of this as an award that goes to the most amusing and interesting member of mouthshut. What are the requisites for this award? A few basic ones ,naturally. The member needs to have written atleast ten reviews so that his skill in writing can be adjudged and appraised. Secondly, his works should be original and not copy-pasted from other websites.
Now, comes the more subjective part of adjudging the ideal member of mouthshut. Clearly, he or she needs to be an active member. Someone who checks in about once a montrh is out of the reckonong for sure. In my opinion, the member who wins this award needs to be well-read and should possess a sense of humour. He/she should be young at heart and should not take himself TOO seriously. Remember that this is a site of the amateur, not the proffessional. Furthermore, the award-winner should be patient enough to leave a comment at the end of reading a review. This is a property which many of us (including yours truly) lack.
WHO GETS THE PRIZE? Well, here are few members who can get the award. This does not mean that the members are not good, this is just to say that these members have a special aura which can be felt even on the lifeless PC. Here they are:
diver- for his excellent reviews and frequent comments.
amateurabe- for her humorous and amusing reviews and friendly nature.
krazy4sonu- for her devil-may-care attitude and sharp critical mind
zuludancing- awesome writing skill and reader attraction power
matwalaboy- for his detailed yet concise reviews
modernmukul- simply because he is the youngest member on MS I know and because he is the cutest.
sourray- he has the rare habit of leaving comments which most of us lack.
THE DARKER SIDE OF MS While most members on mouthshut are warm, genuinely friendly souls who want to advise other members on products and services. But a few evil devils join the website to simply abuse and insult other members. While Faisal and Co. have done a great job of eliminating these pains in the neck, this problem still persists.
These shameful members can be found in the mouth sealed section of the website. Another policy which I dont understand is the selection of star-writers. Who chooses them? Is human interference involved? I want answers to these questions. Also, why is it necessary to upload a photo to become a star writer?
IMPORTANT NOTE This is added as an afterthought. This regards the question of the Trusted Circle on MS. Why do people on this site hate to trust other writers? Perhaps the word ’’trust’’ is too strong, it should be replaced by ’’popular amongst’’ or ’’respected by’’ or something like that.
