In my opinion Mouthshut is an excellent platform for exchanging views and information in the modern complex society with billions of products, services and concerns. Thanks to Faisal that not only the products and services but contemporary topics where we require help is added to Mouthshut, but I feel that the platform is to certain extent abused due MS points., I do not want to say that all will write quality reviews, but honesty in sharing should be of prime importance, where my knowledge or information which will add value to others should be shared.

The rating system and individual criterion of rating is also responsible for low quality reviews. I have seen generally reviews with 300 words or more are rated higher, may be the members feel that the effort the reviewer has given should be rewarded. I do not dispute the attitude, but even in two lines if one can share important knowledge or information also should be rated highly. I object to 75 word minimum limit or 10 word limit to comments, for example, salient features of a product can be described even in less word may be in a tabular form for which the review posting method should be suitably modified.

The Mouthshut members are of varied back ground and knowledge base, naturally there are few great reviewers few not so great reviewers, but contribution of all are important to take Mouthshut to a greater height. I suggest that the rating system to be modified, instead of various level of rating this can be replaced with one line comment box, this will also ensure reading and reduce the rating without even reading to increase the MS points.

I agree that only implementation of the systems, without honesty from part of the members will not serve the purpose and the guest. In my opinion it does not matter as long as a member or guest are getting the information’s and the help they are looking for, the purpose is served.

At last I wish to say that Mouthshut is a great portal, till date I have not heard any adverse comments from any one whom I have refereed this site.. I do not know what is the source of revenue, I would request Faisal to advertise the portal, may be providing links with banner to the members who can display in their portal if any. This site deserves attention and applause of the world.
