All about Mouthshut – part II

Somehow felt couple of weeks was different in Mouthshut. Lots of Mouthshut reviews; so many questions were asked and no/very few answers. Heard from many that these are very common on Mouthshut and happens once in a while in years and here history repeats! This time with some answers …

Burning issues
:

- (Mis) Selection of contest winners
- Irrational reviews should be deleted; instead, reviews are being deleted irrationally
- Multiple ID guys create most of the trouble

And these are because members are real dummies in these, like in selecting the ‘review of the day’. It is ‘subjective’ as faisal puts in his comments to dwivediakash review. (I didn’t know he can speak!).

‘Subjective’ definition
:
Mouthshut’s perspective: We decide
I interpret: I am a dummy

If it hasn’t been spotted yet, THIS is the root cause for all these burning issues. There is very little member involvement in other stuff except for writing and commenting on reviews.  I have a couple of solutions that would address these issues and more …

Members reporting
:

Right now members can report any plagiarism or abuse to the Mouthshut team only through e-mail. Make that online.

There will be 2 small links below the 4 buttons (VU,U,Scootty err sorry SU,NU):

- Report plagiarism

When 5 or more members click ‘Report abuse’, the review will be removed. Let us not bother about the reviews that are not read and good enough to produce at least 5 feedbacks from the members. ‘Report plagiarism’ will have an additional textbox in the next page, where the member can provide the link from where this material was reproduced or any other description. So the members can do the entire job.

Why should Mouthshut have all the fun (in deleting reviews?)
If you find something like that, then report it as ‘copied from Hero Honda shine ad’

(Mouthshut team, don’t you think this will make your job easier too? Just auto-delete the reviews that have 5 reports for abusing)

Nominations
:

Generate a link in all categories that are related to Mouthshut contest, which would say ‘nominate for contest’. A member can click this link to nominate the review for the contest. More the number of nominations greater the preference for winning the contest.

As an example, now a movie contest is going on. So all reviews under the category ‘movie’ will have a link called ‘nominate for contest’.

Of course, given other considerations like popular members may get more hits, deciding can be ‘subjective’. But members will also play a key role and it makes the decision more transparent.

(Mouthshut team, you can also list all the nominated reviews, so that the readership will increase for these reviews and may be the members themselves may decide the winners. Less work people … come on).

Questionnaire
:

Few guys create multiple IDs and spoil all the integrity here. So, give them out a questionnaire to fill when creating IDs … some random and interesting questions (whisper: this will have hidden member related questions, which only members can answer. When someone answers to these as you expected, then mark them; watch them and flag them).

There is already this Sort technology, which is sort of ok right now (although its working is still puzzling, we can be happy it’s the technology and not the people making the mistake!). All that I am asking you is to give more links to reviews and extend this technology to make work simpler for both the members and for the management team. Faisal has promised to make Sort more dynamic. How about implementing these too?

To all my friends here, I know you can add more to these Ideas. Please do add them in the comments section.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------

(Mouthshut team, if you find any ‘delete prompting’ statements kindly bear this time only. I have written about 4 reviews on Mouthshut. If you had given start in every section, I would have given a 5 star in all the reviews, meaning 20 stars for one website and that will make it THE BEST WEBSITE IN THE WORLD. Now, does that make my review stay?)

I would not wish my 50th review to be in trash.

Heard from the homepage that Mouthshut is hiring… my resume is available in my site http://envy.ram.googlepages.com :D
