This is one of those
grim pieces of software whose designers seem to take it upon themselves to annoy the user.
Gator is supposed to be software that helps the user to fill in forms and
password fields. The trouble is that it is more than that. Popup ads come up at the most annoying times; one could be surfing an interesting website, and then click on an ad, and
boom! The next thing one knows, an ad for a competing product or service pops up, courtesy of Gator.
Theoretically, at least, I am aware that these people who provide popup ads to Gator are paying for those ads to be there. The problem is that these ads seem almost diabolically designed to make the competition look bad - an ad for a Priceline competitor popping up when youre looking at Priceline (thats a theoretical example) makes Priceline look bad, in my opinion.
