I’ve used Gator a long time ago when I had a little problem remembering all my user id’s & passwords. I used it for about 3 yrs. I never had any of the problems that some members have mentioned
in their reviews.
Its true, Gator has some spywares. But all spywares can be removed from te computer. U only need to know the right way of removing the spywares. Mostly people try to uninstall the spywares, but in some cases, uninstalling doesn’t help much.
Sometimes, even after uninstalling the spyware, the spyware is present in the computer. But the user won’t know this coz, they have got the message that u get after uninstalling a software i.e. ’Uninstall Successful’ or ’Uninstall Done’ or ’Uninstallation Finished’ (the message depends on the uninstaller of the software).
I never had any problems with Gator is b’coz I performed all the spyware uninstallations perfectly. This is what I did, after installing Gator......
1st the usual method of removing the software (Uninstallation). (Note: U should know the name of the spyware). After that, whether u get the message saying that the uninstallation was successful or not, open ’C:\Windows\’ & search for a , *.dll , extension file which has the name of the spyware or its short-form or short-name or a word relating to the spyware. If not found in Windows folder, then search for it in ’C:\Windows\system\’. Find the DLL file(s) & delete it.
DLL extension files are one of the main files needed for a small program/software to run/function correctly. If the file is missing, the software using it can’t function or it will show errors.
As for those of u who say that u’ve been receiving junk mails due to Gator’s spyware. Well, ur wrong. U receive junk mails due to the settings/configuration of ur email accounts/id’s. While signing up for an email account, 1 must fill out a personal info form. On that very same page (eg: Hotmail), at the bottom, there are some options with their respective check-boxs.
The options are: would u like to be listed in the members directory, would u like 2 receive emails from our partner/sponsor sites, etc. Just make sure u had all these check-boxs unchecked. Incase, u have checked all or any of these check-boxs, then my friend, u will be 1 of those lucky persons to receive JUNK MAIL.
Reason....: If ur name/email is listed in the members directory, then any company/organisation can take ur email address & send u emails relating to their products/services. And if u allow the partner sites of ur email provider to contact u, then u’r gonna receive emails with product info/offers, etc. (Junk).
