Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous northern Indian state of Sikkim. 5 years ago I visited to gangtok to attend wedding ceremony of one of my brother's friend, a kolkata boy, who work there in tea factory and done love marriage there. I went there via travel bus from kolkata to siliguri and from siliguri rented a tata sumo shadel and reached to gangtok near M.G. MARKET within 4 hours. I went in december last week and cant believe what happened to me. I have taken very high quality jacket and coat for cold still my body shivers every time when air blowed. Even my bones are not capable to consume the cold air, that night and next whole day I only enjoyed with so much cold and chilled weather. There was around 0 to -4 degree weather condition. The sun rises so early and shines all the day still cant resist my cold along with jacket. Enjoyed very much with ceremony also. Some delicious food was also experienced in hotel, where we stayed. Hotel servicing was also so good. Maintainance was good and serving quality, food quality, quantity, price, ambience all are good. M.G. MARKET was also famous for tourism. So properly cleaned and maintained market, roads, bridges, one way roads are also well furnished. Those 4 days are great days of my life. The sights, sceneries are awesome, fountains, rivers, the high naked roads, clouds are so much great. Taken lots of pictures of rivers and hill stations are absolute top notch. The houses, buildings, hotels all are builded in one by one upper side. Most of them are build with wood. The normal water is so clean and clear like mirror, bubbles come out from water if you just touch water. Every time feels so much positive and energetic with these type of weather. Even in night I wanted to see outside and roam instead of sleep. The night scenes was also great, due to excess chill weather there are lots of wine shop or F.L.ON shop for 24X7 open always to maintain body heat and resistance. Anyone can go gangtok through bus, train upto siliguri and then rental cab. Bagdogra is the nearest airport to gangtok. At late night there are some issues with vehicles may be. I didnt experienced that. To the way of west bengal border gate to sikkim border gate there are jungles besides the road, I saw an elephant there besides the road as well. At the checkpost, securities are very tight and checked evrything along with id proofs individually. Then you can proceed to sikkim line. From there you can also take another way to Darjeeling. All local places and peoples are useful and helpful towards tourists. So, there are no safety issues with that I think so.
