Let us assume that a person can be represented as a mathematical equation. Now since you will take a batch, the differences in characterstics will cancel out. So when a '' Mob'' is considered, the equation can explain the behaviour of the mob.
Logical?? Yes .... if the assumption is true, the outcome is also true. According to Issac Asimov, this science of predicting the behaviour of Mob is Pschyohistory and Hari Seldon is the greatest pschyoanalyst who lives in the age of the empire. The empire rules the galaxies and according to Hari Seldon is going to break into a 30,000 year civil war.
To prevent this, Hari Seldon starts 2 new foundations at the 2 ''ends'' of the galaxy that shall hasten the death of the empire into a 1000 year period and then the foundations take over
This is the prelude to the ''Foundation & the Empire'' - made of 2 short stories, the depict the fall of the Empire and the fall of the first foundation
Fall of Empire: Nicely written in the eyes of an army general of the Empire, this section is about how the empire deals with the rebellion of the first foundation.
To me, this section meant the reinforcement of all Hari Seldon's Laws. The section on the emperor was very nicely written and the whole story is fast paced.
First Foundation: Here, the empire has collapsed and the first foundation rules the galaxy and is threatened by the raise of a new mysterious warrior called '' The Mule''? Did Hari Seldon predict the rise of the mule? does the 1st foundation destroy the mule or succumbs to his assault? who s this mule and are the war stories of his for real ?
I thought this part was much better than the first part, the story is very quick paced and towards the end didnot disappoint me though the real identity of the mule was quite obvious? whats the mules goals and whether he succeds in that ??
read this novel .... and if you are a sci - fi buff., this is a book you should not be missing .... and for the hard core guys., I suggest that they visit the Personal site of Issac Assimov.... it gives a lot of information on the foundation ...
