To begin with this hospital is humongous & there is nothing that I like about this hospital. Mentioned under are two experiences that I have gone through and based on which I will give my conclusion.

Exp 1

This year Jan my Mama had a slight paint in the left shoulder and was sweating like hell. We immediately took him to Fortis E*corts. At night they had residents who were scared to talk to the senior doctors. they immediately gave him a drip and a muscle relaxant. He was still uncomfortable. After about an hour upon persuasion they did and ECG.

The report came but it was difficult for the resident docs to interpret it. So in the morning the Doc came at around 11.30 ( late by almost an hour) and after looking at the ECG said there are slight variations and that it is nothing major. He suggested digene and was discharged. Paid about Rs 15000. We bought him home and the pain started again. This time I did not take him to Fortis but to another private hospital. The senior DOC came and did an ECG.

It was the same as the ECG from Fortis. Looking at the ECG the doc stated that it indicates a blockage and would require further testes and an angioplasty. I was shocked as the DOC at fortis said there was nothing wrong. We went for tests and they confirmed the blockage. Well he was treated and is now fine.

Exp 2.

My cousin is married in Ajmer and her sister in law has had a renal transplant. She had indigestion and was not taking food for past two days. They were referred to Jaipur. They rushed to fortis on I think it was12th early morning. I had to go. The residents there were told the complete history. The consulted some senior and then gave a catheter and a drip along with pain killers and laxative. Next day the GI Surgeon came and ordered some X-rays and sonogrpahy. Now here starts the tricky part. The doc came around 11.45 and ordered the X-rays & other tests. The patient was critical.

The staff came around 1 to conduct the tests. After about 45 Mins we started inquiring about the reports . We were told that they were with the DOC on Ground Floor. We came down from 3rd floor and the DOC said he never got the reports. We then went to the concerned staff on that floor and they had no clue of the reports. After this frustrating experience I went to the admin Reena. She was polite and started Pulling strings and we got the reports in about 10 mins after that.

We went to the surgeon and after looking at the reports he said that the patient had an obstruction in the intestines and is operable. BUT as the patient is a renal transplant patient and that they would require a Nephrologist for consultation for pre and post operative care. Here is the shock. The hospital the size of a for did not have a nephro in house.

Shocking the doctor refused to operate and he had valid reasons for that. So we paid Rs. 17000 for one day for a catheter and a drip. We now wanted to move to another hospital. It took the hospital about an hour and a half to discharge the patient even after the fact that most of the expenses are prepaid.(You need to deposit cash in advance.) The patient got critical by then. We asked for an ambulance and the hospital admin denied it saying it was against the policy. SCREW YOU AND YOUR POLICY. Where under the sky would you deny a facility like that to a patient.

Oh , Forgot to mention. They have a very rude staff. The general lights around the hospital and in the parking area are switched off so one can barely see and walk. Cost cutting I guess. Charging exorbitant amounts and saving on petty but necessary things. Petty for them and necessary for the customers.

Conclusion from toe to head.:

  1. Hospital is big and that is the only advantage you get.

  2. Parking staff and system sucks and the staff is rude.

  3. General Staff is rude, slow and unaware of the SOP's(Standard Operating Procedures) & parts of the hospital.

  4. Incompetent Doctors and residents.

  5. A lot of departments are still waiting to get a good DOC.

6.Improperly equipped Emergency Department.

  1. Exorbitant Charges.

  2. Chaotic flow of information when it comes to pathology report and routing it to the right DOC and department.

So, save yourself TIME, MONEY AND HEALTH AND DO NOT VISIT.

Regards
