I got to know about a new online bookstore Flipkart.com through a
friend and decided to give it a shot since i am not at all satisfied
with the other options available in india. I ordered two
books at
Flipkart, one which they promised to deliver within 3 days and another
which they promised to ship in 5 days.
Here’s my review:
1. The site is clean unlike most other indian e-commerce websites which
are filled with flashes all around the place making it difficult to
focus.
2. The book catalog is not exhastive but I guess they have just started
off, so as long as they do not post stuff they do not have that is
good.
3. The search is excellent. I hate the search on
fabmall(indiaplaza) where you have to specify whether your are search
in title or author or isbn. What if i want to search for a book with a
title by a specific author. There is no easy way to this at indiaplaza.
Flipkart solves this problem and you can type in both title and/or
author in their search box.
Also their search is much quicker and you can then filter your search results by title or author.
4. They offer free-shipping all over India on all their books, so you
don’t have to mentally add the shipping costs everytime you are looking
at an item.
5. Price for the 3 day book was less than what I could find at brick
and mortar stores and other online shopping sites. Price for the other
book was the same as the list price but since I couldn’t find this book
at any other place I decided to buy it anyway.
6. Payment options are only Visa and Mastercard. Other site offer many
more payment options. This is something they should work on.
7. Product delivery and promptness were excellent. I got one book withing
three days and I also received an update on the status of my second
book. The second book was shipped on the 3rd day itself which was a
pleasant surprise. The books were very well packed and in good
condition.
Overall a good site. They
have scope to improve though, need to increase their catalog and add other payment options.
