If you are an IITian, you will probably relate very well to this light-hearted narrative about the life of three average guys at the
Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi . If you are not an IITian, you will still enjoy this book like I did. The book may be about life in IIT, but the characters are as interesting as in any other book . According to the author, Chetan Bhagat, this book is not about how to get into IIT or what to do once you are in, but what not to do there.
The autobiographical account lends itself to fine character development. The book is fast paced and has very funny conversational style plus lingo typical to those who come from the institution.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is synonymous with topmost excellence in technology and engineering education and one of the most reputed T-schools in India. Getting admissions into IIT is tough and then if at all one gets in, the (tough) going gets tougher.
This is the exact point author Chetan Bhagat(an IITian himself from Delhi) tries to make through his first novel. Its about three friends who make it to IIT and how they try to cope through the pressures of sustaining themselves amidst strict professors, severe competition and always being judged by a cruel grading system. But as every coin has two sides, here too within the big pre-defined world there is a world of innocence & enthusiasm, dreams & goals, friendship & love.
Im sure the ones who have given poor ratings here at some point or the other laughed aloud while reading it, I did. There is no deep hidden meaning in the writing; it simply is the language of fun and youth of students life.
This book is for everyone that like to once in a while take a sneak peek into some of the best bygone years. So are you the one?
