Story:

I have read many Chetan Bhagats books but Five point someone, is something I can read more times. This writer has a great quality he delivers his words in such a way that the reader falls for it. The language is very simple yet interesting. This book Five point someone(FPS) tells the story about three boys studying in IIT, New Delhi,  the renowned Indian university. Inside New Delhi Indian Institute of Technology, three students Hari Kumar, Ryan Oberoi and Alok Gupta have lots of aspirations for their life . Hari is the narrator and he narrates the story how these three became best friends and how they dealt with all study challenges and other stuff. The story revolves around three of them about ragging issues and how students stay in the pressure for getting good grades and higher GPA.

Ryan is the smart, handsome and bright guy who keeps forcing Alok and Hari to do different things and to explore. He comes from a wealthy family and he gets all luxury items from his family, but still his parents dont have time for him. Ryan doesn't miss his family as he thinks they dont love him. On the other way Alok(fatso) has his own family issues actually financial issues. His father is bed ridden and his mother is a teacher and she manages everything from her small salary. Alok has a sister for whom the family is looking for a groom and want her to get married fast. Alok is very sentimental and just want to pass out and get a job so he can serve his family.

The story also shows about hostel life and arrangements. How some students give their life and breath to study and grades as the pressure to be on the top is always there. These three friends are not bright students but an average and get 5. something score and then the story takes turn. They try and study hard but on the other side they get swayed away by carefree life. Where they leave classes, roam around, watch movies and just copy others notes. Hari meets a girl named Neha and falls in love with her gradually. Neha happens to be the daughter of Professor Cherian, the most strict and toughest educator in the campus.  In this novel Bhagat nicely touched the chord of getting great helpful friends and young age friendship and love.

The story displays the details how these boys learned new study topics, projects  and bad addictions in campus life. The students live a entire different life in the campus generally busy in study, assignments, practicals and exams preparations. Though these three boys choose not to give their life to studies and take altered path. Later different incidents happen and eventually they have to study hard to get pass.

The writer successfully says the fact how over pressure from the families, faculty and the society can make students life in distress. Prof. Cherian who is the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of their college also has a untold story about his son Samir. Samir committed suicide out of frustration as he could not get passed to get admission in IIT. He hated science, physics, chemistry and he wanted to follow his dreams. But due to his fathers urging aspirations, he felted hapless.

At the end three of the boys Hari, Alok and Ryan get job and work. This book is pleasant to read and the way author has collected the incidents, it creates interest for readers. This book is a national bestseller and the very popular Hindi movie Three Idiots is based on FPS. I personally found that this book can take you back to your memories of college life, hostel, exams and off course perfect friendship. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.
