Probably this is the most difficult article to write, “5 most beautiful Indian Actress?”. Well all of them were and are beautiful otherwise they would have never been into the glamour/dream industry how to choose any five:conf!
Some may say no not all, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil & Tabu are not in the category. May be they are right but I think that they were beautiful too, in their kind of movies. So what can be defined as beautiful……… If I start writing about beauties then the list will include Madhubala, Hema Malini, Sadhna, Sharmila Tagore, Sridevi, Parvin Boddy, Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Poonam Dhillo, Sonali Bendre, Juhi Chawala….Hang on that includes everyone so what should I write?
Long pause, thought a lot but then concluded that I should write as most about the most glamour actresses rather than beautiful actresses. It would be easier.
Top of the chart would definitely be Rekha. This eternal dive is the ultimate icon. She would go against the fashion of the season and be trend setter. Some one has rightly pointed out that during the days when wet makeup was Thee fashion statement Rekha wore dry dark make-up and that was The fashion next season. Needless to say that she looks younger as the day passes. My wife watch the award nights only to watch what Rekha is wearing and how she is dressed.
Waheeda Rehman, or Waheedaji, was not only a great actress and dancer but there is also a trademark WR style. Her beauty & style statement is also acknowledged by super stars like Amitabh Bachchan & SRK. Even today she looks so graceful and beautiful. I think that she is the only actress who has worked in black-n-white, Eastman color, natural color movies. In a way she is the one who showed the Indian actress what fashion is and how to be a style icon.
Zeenat Aman brought the refreshing change in the Indian cinema. No longer, a western girl was a mere cunning vamp character. She can still give many heroines of today run for their money. She defined the concept of out of the box heroine concept. The heroine who was bold, had a mind of her own and in a true sense a women of today. She was definitely girl of man’s dream. She has shown that women can look sensual without looking vulgar. I feel that she was far ahead of her time.
The short dusky Bengali beauty, yes you guessed it right Rani Mukherji has proved that you can be a successful and glamour even if you are not naturally typically Heroine material. She is not only the best actress but also the most glamour one. If you don’t agree with me then you should watch “Tara Rum Pum Pum” and re-watch “Kuchh Kuchh hota hai”. She looked far better than all other heroines in “Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gaam”. She is the only actress who can play the deglamourized role in “Black” and ravishing beauty in “TRPP”
No list can be complete without the mention of “Mumbai di Mulgi” La Dix(Madhuri Dixit). Those chiffons, beta dress, Sajan suits, Madhuri curls etc are the few to mention. She is one icon in whom you can find best of every heroine. Madhubals’s smile, Meena Kumari’s forehead, Waheedaji’s nose but still she was class apart. In HAHK, the entire theatre would buzz “Aha!” whenever she comes. I think, during those days she was the only heroine who could be compared to Big B and was a bigger star than SRK. Point is that she was an actress with confluence of all the actress but still carried herself very differently and had a very distinct style.
