A worthy succesor

I feel Udit Narayan is the true succesor of kishore Kumar/Rafi.Since times of mukesh, we have seldom had periods of absence of melodious songs(except 1980-1987-> guess least number of good songs!) thanks to mukesh, Hemant kumar, rafi, Kishore and now Udit.

The most strking thing in his voice is the freshness and that hasnt changed since almost 15 years.Only Rafi had the same freshness and melody . I think that only Sonu Nigam comes close( though a levek below!) to udit at present  for the sheer quality of voice.

Zeroing in on 5 . its very hard as there are atleast 50 songs of udit which are equally great. still  my rating will be:

  1. Papa kehte Hain: Nothing beats this melody for sheer enthusiasm  and'THE' sweetest voice

  2. Ae Ajnabi(Dil se):  kudos to Rehman  for extracting the best out of Udit.

  3. Main yahan Hoon(veer Zara): please watch the video too. the combined effect is too good.and lyrics amazing.

4.Dil todke Has thi ho mera( Bewafa Sanam): I bet most of u wouldnt have heard this song. its really enthralling  and so are the wordings of the song. music is mild and pleasant.

  1. Mujhe Neend na Aaye( Dil): I feel its the best duet of past two decades.

I feel this humble*( really really humble.) singer has been underrated . but as Milind in his review said. he belongs up there with Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore .
