This is a highly subjective review, but for me there are sneakers that are great and some that stink(even before you work out in them!) Some thoughts on the good brands:
NEW BALANCE
These shoes have it all. In America they can be a bit expensive but there is a wide price range($50-$130) They are by far the most comfortable sneakers I have ever had. They pad them well, and They seem to fit the contours of my feet perfectly. You feel extra supported in NB shoes. They are well made as well. They also come in extra wide widths. They look great too, with a modern look, but not overdone. NB specializes in running shoes.
K SWISS
K-swiss is a known brand in America, but not as known as other brands like Nike and Reebok, etc. Their sneakers are more classic in design, and come in more standard colors.(white, black, gray). K Swiss mostly sells fashion and tennis sneakers. They are comfortable, but not as comfortable as New Balance. I own a pair and they have not fallen apart after 6 months so I am happy with them.
Brands I avoid
Reebok
Many people like Reebok, but I find them uncomfortable, they have strange ridges and bumps in the soles and they tend to be small. The classic ones look OK but their new styles just try to rip off of Nike, resulting in strangely colored, too exotic looking shoes. I used to wear Reeboks all of the time, when I did the shoes did not last as long as other brands like Nike and New Balance.
Nike
I actually dont dislike Nike, they were innovators in their time, and I suppose they are innovators now, but man, their shoes are ugly. It may be a age thing( I am kind of old), but Nike seems to specialize in shoes that are garishly colored, have weird fastening systems(zippers, velcro, laces, buckles.all on the same shoe!) and they are horribly expensive. I do like the new retro line they are re-introducing, I am considering buying those. But the new shoe designs have got to go. When it comes to comfort, Nikes' are a crapshoot, it depends on the design.
I hope this will help you on your next sneaker purchase!
