GovindA's BesT MovieS??YeS NoT 1 BuT 5 Of 'eM. Review on Five Best Movies of Govinda

After writing a rvu on some of the best performances of Aamir Khan and ShahRukh Khan, I m writing an rvu on ?Five Best Movies of Govinda?. With C grade films like Dulhe Raja or Raja Bhaiya etc. Chi-Chi has done much bad movies but then there are some of his movies which truly and definitely show his acting talents and skills. So I thought to write about these films. This is my personal choice and choice depends on person to person so what is my favourite may not be urs. Anyway here goes:

1.Hatya (1988)

Cast: Govinda, Anupam Kher, Neelam, Raj Kiran.

I feel this is the best movie of Govinda regarding his acting skills. A thoroughly serious role with no singing romantic songs around trees in the garden in this movie. A movie in which Govinda finds a little boy who?s dumb and deaf and is disturbed by death of his mother. Govinda finds him from a footpath. The kid?s mother is a sole witness to a crime committed by Anupam Kher and is killed. The villains want to kill her kid but Govinda is there to protect him. The police arrest Govinda for the murder of his mother. The kid proves that Govinda is innocent and Govinda saves him from the villains is the rest of the film. A film which shows an emotional bond between Govinda and the kid (don?t remember his name?he was in another film called Masoom with Inder Kumar and Ayesha Jhulka). Raj Kiran played the harsh police inspector. Govinda did this film quite early in his career due to which he was also recognized as a person with tremendous acting skills along with dancing skills. The film was a big hit.

2.Swarg(1990)

Cast: Govinda, Rajesh Khanna, Juhi Chawla..

This is the movie which made Govinda a superstar of Bollywood at that time. A highly successful movie with all the fame going to Govinda for his great acting. I truly loved this movie at the time I saw it. The movie starts of with a happy family comprising of family head Rajesh Khanna his wife (don?t remember her name-Madhvi or something like dat) and his sweet sis Juhi Chawla (lady love for Chichi). Govinda is the servant of in their but is never treated like a servant. He is treated like a younger brother by Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh Khanna also has two other step-brothers. All live happily. Then suddenly Rajesh Khanna suffers heavy loss in business and the step brothers leave him alone with Juhi. His palace ?Swarg? is also confiscated by his competitor. His wife dies and they also accuse Govinda of stealing a necklace so Rajesh Khanna deliberately throws him out of the house so that he doesn?t have to suffer the fate that Rajesh Khanna and Juhi were to suffer. Then Govinda comes to Bollywood and becomes a superstar and then ruins the business of the step brothers (?Badla-in hindi terms?), who had turned their back to their father like elder brother Rajesh Khanna and also buys back ?Swarg? and takes Rajesh Khanna back to Swarg. Everyone is reconciled then.

It was known from this movie that whenever Govinda had to do an emotional scene he never used Glycerine to shed tears he did the emotional scene by shedding tears naturally!!

3.Shola aur Shabnam. (1992)

Cast: Govinda, Divy Bharti, Mohnish Behl, Gulsan Grover.

Another good movie showing the acting skills of Govinda. U see in all the movies I have chosen I have only thought about the acting and not his dancing capabilities. With that inclusion I think his 1-2 more movies also would be thought off but I would keep my list to best 5(according to me). Anyway this movie stars late Divy Bharti as Govinda?s co-star. The film starts of with Govinda is some NCC training camp doing all the masti and college stuff of troubling teachers by teasing Anupam Kher who is their teacher. I remember Anupam kher shaving his moustache becoz Govinda speaking disguising as Sridevi and telling that I love full shaved men. Then the lady love enters into the scene and romance happens between them. With that Mohnish bhel(sorry if I spelt the surname wrong) along with his big bro Gulshan Grover enter and they happen to separate the couple by making Govinda bad. Then the serious ChiChi kidnaps Divy and then finally proves that he?s innocent and as usual at the end of every hindi movie they live happily ever after. The movie was directed by David Dhawan with whom Govinda had a great rapport of giving huge hits like Rajababu, Coolie No.1 etc(I don?t know how they became hits!!)

4.Haseena Maan Jayegi (2001)

Cast: Govinda, Kader Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Karisma Kapoor, Anupam Kher.

Need I say anything about this movie? Total comedy movie with Govinda and Sanjay Dutt playing all sorts of pranks to harass their father Kader Khan. Remember the scene when they take ?Dahej? and fix their dad?s marriage with Bindu (lol) and when Kader khan finds out that this was their kartoot and bashes them he says ? Batao yaar, Baap ki shaadi karni chahi to kya bura chaha?. As Satish kaushik in the movie said ?Dono ke Dono too much hai?.?. Govinda?s lady love was played by Karisma Kapoor and he was well supported by Sanjay Dutt and Paresh Rawal acting as a Gurkha (inspired to be a detective?.. tadan tada??.)

One liners like ?Ye to aisa lag raha hai ki aap sharafat se Hull de rahe hai?,

?Ash to aise bol rahe hai jaise ki Aishwarya Rai de rahe ho?

make the film worth watching.

5.Aankhen 1993 directed by David Dhawan

An action-comedy movie by none other then the duo themselves-David Dhawan and Govinda. Along with Chunky Pandey, Kadar Khan and Sadashiv Amrapurkar the film is a treat to watch. Also the description isn?t complete without mentioning the monkey which is a pet of Govinda and Chunky. The movie starts of with Govinda and Chunky beings good for nothing boys of Kader Khan and they bring the trophy of being rankers but then Kader Khan comes to know that they have failed and cheated their father. The story moves on and the villains Shakti Kapoor and Raj Babbar enter who have a plan of replacing the CM becoz he is a look alike of one of their gang member. The want to do this becoz they want release Natvar Shah a fraud. With twists and turns in the movie two more look alikes enter. They are another Govinda and Kader khan who is the lost brother of Kader Khan (maybe they lost in the famous Kumbh ka Mela!!). The villager Govinda keeps on shouting ?CHANGRAMUKHI CHANDRAMUKHI? who is his love. They all land up at the den of Shakti kapoor and fight out to destroy the evil and make the good win. Govinda shows both his comedy and acting skills in this movie. And at the end they do get honored by Gold Medal from none other then the CM Raj Babbar(the good one) himself.
