May be at this point in time my ID on MS is under major fire as people think I hate Aamir Khan just because I put him in my most overrated actors of Bollywood list. Well listen up, Aamir is one fine actor. And we all, being his fans on MS here know that very well. So let's think of the overrated part as just another flip side.

Being a good actor, Aamir should be capable of consistently entertaining his fans as opposed to returning after a hiatus of four years. Just my personal opinion. I am not asking him to churn some baseless stuff out on a yearly basis, but just carefully make his choices and consistently deliver. If people here especially on MS label him the best actor, then he should use all that wisdom from his 15+ year career as well as his talent to pick some decent movies and deliver. He has done it before with these 5 movies, and he should be able to repeat history. Here we go with Aamir's top five in my opinion:

(5) RAJA HINDUSTANI: This was a major success of Aamir Khan's career. Although many people call it a very overrated movie, it has to be listed here due to its impact on the career of Aamir. We all have to consider that Aamir deserved a best actor award all the way through the 90s. And had it not been for this movie, he would've lacked it. This movie officially became his biggest hit till that date and made him twice the star he already was. He was assured a spot in the top 3 khans of Bollywood and thus ruled the industry for a while thanks to the super success of RAJA HINDUSTANI. No matter how monotonous the theme oand story of the movie was, it was afterall Aamir's performance that helped the movie succeed all the way. So hats off to him as he single-handedly attained success with RH!

(4) LAGAAN: LAGAAN may come at this number to many people's surprise. Being Aamir's biggest hit of all time, this belongs at the top spot, and I know. But personally for me this movie was great, yet not the best of Aamir. Bhuvan's was an author backed role and Aamir no doubt did full justice to it with an award winning performance. But yet LAGAAN was a period film and merely a classic. It wasn't in relation with today's times and since Aamir has done much better as a contemporary hero, I will keep LAGAAN at number 4. Please read my reasons to put LAGAAN at this number before objecting to it.

(3) DIL CHAHTA HAI: DCH was again one of Aamir's major successes in 2001 like LAGAAN. It was his last movie before a hiatus of four years and another good Aamir movie ''Mangal Pandey'' suffered only due to the expectations he had created four years ago with DCH. DCH was the most contemporary of films and no doubt struck gold with the young generation proving Aamir's versatility in the same year as a classic character in LAGAAN and a young loverboy in DCH. This movie took Aamir a long way and was able to convince many fans that unlike SRK who is a success only in romantic roles, Aamir is someone who can handle many sides of a character and that too in the same year. Another memorable work of the ace Khan indeed!

(2) ISHQ: This one is one of the best comedies that Bollywood has ever witnessed. After listing Aamir as a romantic hero (RH), classic hero (LAGAAN), and loverboy (DCH), we have to list him on number 2 due to his outstanding comic skills. ISHQ proved to the world that this guy can even handle a complex comic character with ease, effortlessly making audiences laugh. He had great chemistry with Ajay Devan as well as Juhi Chawla and thus added another awesome feather in his cap by giving a major comic success like ISHQ. Hats off to his versatility yet again!

(1) JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDER: This to me is one of the best movies of all time, let alone being one of the best movies of Aamir. Aamir did one of the best things of his career by playing the male lead in one of the sharpest, one of the cleanest, and one of the most logical movies ever made in Bollywood. Aamir proved yet again that he can even be the angry young man of the masses as he delivered an awesome performance despite towering acts from his co-stars Mamik and Ayesha Jhulka. He instantly became the chocolaty boy of Bollywood and this was the movie that initiated THE RISING of a hero in Bollywood! Tremendous!

Despite giving other hits like AKELE HUM AKELE TUM, DIL, SARFAROSH, etc. Aamir Khan also gave baseless flops like MANN and MELA. However all that is ignorable and all that matters to me in his career is the five movies listed above. After MANGAL PANDEY, we should all be waiting to get the response from his latest forthcoming movie called RANG DE BASANTI!
