Ace Khan - Rank # 2 ?
Sep 14, 2007 03:44 PM 10203 Views

Aamir Hussain KhanYaadon Ki Baraat (1973) and Madhosh (1974). After eleven years, he made his acting debut in a supporting role with Ketan Mehta's Holi (1984). In 1988  he got his first leading role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak which was a huge success and launched his career. The most prominent actors we have and the hype he creates does miracle in box-office. He is like a hunter, who waits for the right script and we have so much to learn from this personality and I should say he have full control over his career. If it's the movie or the brand he does, really carry of which would rather hit the street and never bounce back.

One film at a time strategy have very well accepted but is it something which we really have to go in depth or the characters he portrayed for us for the past two decades?Let me start off with his 5 best movies and ofcourse we all have our own choice and pardon me if I have'nt included any of your favorite's...

*1. Dil Chahta Hai :

*The Heart Desires, but billed as Do Your Thing and this was the theme carried of with this beautiful cinema. The style of the film and its setting was well appreciated. One song sequence recapitulates Bollywood dance history; one song drops the usual dance accompaniment and establishes the character's state of mind through lyrics and a moody photo collage. There is an extended opera sequence and a song-and-dance inside a painting.

*2. Raja Hindustani :

*Two people from opposite socio-economic backgrounds fall in love and get married against the girl's family's wishes. The girl's family then conspires to create a rift between the couple by exploiting the boy's jealous, short-tempered nature. The movie won him the best film fare award as an actor.

*3. Lagaan:

*The peasants, who are already suffering from a prolonged drought, are devastated by this news. The monsoon is late; they will be unable to pay regular taxes, much less double taxes. They beg the rajah to help them, but he says he cannot persuade the British to mercy. And one man stood against the British Empire. Another master piece and Oscar Nominee.

*4. Rang De Basanti:

*Rang De Basanti was hailed by most critics as the best Bollywood film produced in a while. The film's was praised for having a storyline of depth, sensitive performances by the ensemble cast and terrific dialogues. Was it DJ who carried of with the entire film? I have no idea but certainly a land mark for those looking for a "Classic".

*5. 1947 - Earth:

*An epic tale of politics, romance & betrayal. The story is set in Lahore in the time period directly before and during the partition of India in 1947. Earth was the Indian nominee for the 2000 72nd Academy Award for Best Foreign film, but was not included among the final five nominees selected by the AMPAS.

*Up-Coming Movies:

*1. Tare Zameen Pe

  1. Lajjo

  2. Ghajini

Aamir may not have a huge fan following like Sharukh or Salman however we all know that he prefers Quality rather than doing 3-4 films in a year. So is it Quite arguable who stands at Rank # 1?
