Hindi movies that inspired me personally

I have seen countless hindi movies and liked a lot of them and have been bored to tears many times too.  But there have been some movies that have inspired me over the years whenever I have been feeling down and out. These movies have been entertaining but more important have lifted my spirits and made me believe that if good times did not last, bad times don't last forever either and it is always the darkest before dawn but dawn eventually does come.

  1. Astitva *ing Tabu

The movie deals with an extra marital affair and a child from that affair that Tabu has in a moment of weakness and the consequences it has when her husband finds out about it 25 years later .  The film exposes the double standards for men and women in society and the expectations from women to be just doormats and have no identity of their own.  The climax of the movie is what makes it inspiring for me --not just Tabu's leaving her son and husband but the fact that her son's fiancee also leaves with her showed a sense of women bonding very rarely seen in reel and real life.

4.   Naache Mayuri *ing Sudha Chandran

I saw this movie when I was a kid but it has stayed with me forever.  The movie was based on the true story of Sudha Chandran who is a dance and loses her leg in an accident but she works towards her dream of being a dancer by getting a Jaipur Foot .  Very very inspiring story and performance.

3.   Lamhe *ing Anil Kapoor, Sridevi

A beautiful if different love story .It is one of those movies that if you watch once, you never forget.  The movie always makes me believe that fairy tale romances can happen, and that if you want something very strongly you almost always get it. Also that if you love someone, let him/her free and if your love has power they will come back to you.  And as a dialogue in the movie goes, if you love someone let them know--worst come to worst they will refuse but at least you won't ever regret that you didn't reveal your love.

2.  Aakhir Kyon:  *ing Smita Patil, Rakesh Roshan, Tina Munim and Rajesh Khanna

The movie has an inspiring story of a woman's fight for her identity. Nisha ( Smita Patil) plays the role of a self-respecting girl , married to a rich man, Kabir Suri (Rakesh Roshan) who treats his wife as a toy, a glorified maid servant to cook, do the household chores, accompany him socially and warm her husband’s bed. Unable to bear her husband’s having an affair with her cousin (Tina Munim), in her own house, Nisha leaves home. She works hard to create her own identity and establish herself as her own person, respected in society and not just Mrs. Kabir Suri who was supposed to bear all indignities heaped on her by her husband.  A must see for all women who have gone through similar situations and want respect in their marriages.

1.   All Amitabh Bachchan  movies of the yester years like Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, Namak Halal, Satte pe Satta, Don, Lawaris, Mr. Natwarlal, Suhaag, Do aur Do Paanch, Muqaddar ka Sikandar, Parvarish, Sharaabi and many many more

LIFE IS STRESSFUL SO ENJOY THE NEXT THREE+ HOURS AND GIVE YOUR OVERWORKED BRAIN A MUCH NEEDED REST.  THESE MOVIES HAVE A WAY OF LIFTING SPIRITS AND MAKING ANYONE LAUGH.
