War: Means to an end?

War has always been a very integral part of all of mankinds history. sad but true. And I dont think there will ever be an end to War as long as man lives. Its just that two disagreeing parties will always resort to strong arm tactics. And as long as man is capable of thinking, there will be disagreements and conflict of interests.

These are not in any particular order.

  1. Schindlers List: I never felt throughout the whole movie that I am watching a movie. It resembled a documentary. The performance by Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson were mind blowing. The depiction of the atrocities was very gut wrenching. The scene where all the women are mistakenly take to aushwitz and they go in for a shower was terrifying. Also the scene of children being whisked away in trucks. One of those movies, which stays with you for a long long time to come. And the music ! What can I say about menuhin anyways?

  2. Apocalypse Now: This is one movie I was really looking forward to see. And it did not disappoint me at all. The long river journey that martin sheen undertakes to assassinate Col.Kurtz is treacherous and long-winded. But the wait is worth it. Marlon brando as Col Kurtz makes the whole journey worthwhile. The last half an hour so is maddening. The words of brando ''horror...'' kept on ringing in my head long after the move is over. This movie is based on Conrad's ''Heart Of Darkness''. I had read the book first so I found the movie very fascinating. FOrd Coppola as director never lets down Conrad.

  3. Europa Europa: This is a german movie and depicts a true story about a jew who when captured by germans lies about being an aryan. The germans take him into their army and then transfer him to german youth center and the story goes on depicting his life in the german army. It has some very touching scenes and some very ironice scenes( which is obvious considering presence of a jew in german propaganda regime!)

  4. Platoon: Full of characters. Unforgettable tom beregner. Scintillating music and oliver stone at his best.

  5. The Pianist: A very up close and personal view of a jew in war torn poland. It remains objective in its portrayal and brilliant acting by the lead actor. The piano music lingers on in your memory.
