Since I have 3 children I have had my share in Children’s movies. Here are my top five best Hollywood children movies.
Shrek
With the voice of Eddy Murphy (as the donkey) and Michael Myers (as the Ogre) how could they go wrong with this movie? My daughter just loves this movie; she really likes all the songs that are sung on it. She likes the ending part were all the characters get together and do karaoke. She stands up and dances along with them. The movies was so cool and so, so funny. The Ogre falls in love with a beautiful princess, but he knows that he doesn’t have any chance with her, since he is ugly and green and not human. The donkey follows the Ogre and the princess all around, and he tries to help them out. The princess is on her way to be married to the King of the country they live in.
He is just a short little man probably no bigger then 3 ft tall. He is a nasty mean hearted King and the princess really doesn’t want to marry him. Then the deep dark secret is revealed. The donkey ends up finding out what the Princess had been hiding from everyone. At night time when the sun goes down the Princess turns into a fat ogre herself. She can break that spell if she marries before the sun comes up that night. She doesn’t want the Ogre to find out, because she thinks that he wont love her since she is ugly at nights and pretty in the day. Well she was wrong, and she does end up breaking the spell, but instead of being a beautiful princess once again she is now turned into that ogre and she is now happy. They get married and everyone is there to wish them the best. As for the nasty King, well let’s say he isn’t around anymore; I believe the dragon had him for dinner that night. This was so funny for kids, and it didn’t have any blood or violence really in this movie. The only thing that my daughter thought was bad was when the ogre said, “Were is my as?” relating to the donkey. So I did have to explain that a donkey is sometimes called an as. All in all I felt this was such a funny movie for kids and adults both to enjoy.
The Little Mermaid
Once again this is one of my daughters favorite movies. She loves Ariel and Sebastian. She thinks that the prince is very cute and she is happy that the mermaid and him end up getting married. This was yet again another great Disney movie for kids. When Aerial gets washed to shore from the sea she ends up being found by the prince and she goes to his castle. During this time she falls in love with him, but she doesn’t want him to find out that she wasn’t human. When she is on land she can turn her web legs into real legs and walk, but then she has to return back to the sea once in awhile because she isn’t able to be out of water that long. It’s a real cute movie for smaller kids to watch, and I did enjoy it as well.
Spy Kids
Antonio Bandarez is the main man in this movie, its not really a cartoon movie like the first two were, but its more like the Hollywood movies. The movie is about two spies’ who retired, and they have two kids. One boy and one girl, then one day they have to go on a mission. Their children have no idea that their parents were ever spies until some people started to go after them. This is when they realize that they had some really cool parents who had a really cool job. Well their parents were in trouble, so now the kids have to rescue them. The kids are now considered the spy’s and they get to use all kinds of really cool tools that spy’s get to use when they are on a mission. My daughter loved this movie so I ended up having to buy the movie for her to watch over and over again.
Princess Diary
This is a story of a girl who is plain Jane. She doesn’t have to many friends in school and is considered a real geek. One day out of the blew her grandmother comes to visit and tells her that she is now the new princess of the country she lived in. The girl’s dad was the prince, but she never knew that. Now the grandmother needs to do some hard work to get the princess ready to be shown. Believe me she has her hands full with this girl. Not only was she plain Jane, but also she was so uncoordinated that she tripped over everything in her way. She really didn’t want to be the princess at first, but once she found out how much popularity she was getting she decide that it was cool. She ended up losing her best friends for a while, but at the end she decided what was more important to her. I really liked this movie too because it is always a little girls dream to be a princess. It was neat seeing how the change took place and how she ended up becoming this wonderful beautiful well-mannered young lady. She even got a boyfriend out of the deal.
The Lion King
Nope I didn’t forget this fabulas movie. How can anyone not like the Lion King? This was a hit movie with the little kids; even the adults enjoyed it too. Yes there were some really sad parts in this movie like when Simba’s dad ends up being killed and Simba’s uncle tries to blame it on him. Then Simba ends up running away from his family and the pride lands and ends up meeting some new and strange friends. After a while he ends up meeting with the monkey who teaches him and reminds him of what he needs to do. Simba was to be the “new King” of the lion pride, but his uncle was jealous and wanted to rule the land. That was why he killed Simba’s father and sent him away. Simba was in love too, and that was part of the reason why he went back to the pride lands to take back what was rightfully his! Oh this movie was so funny and yet had those sad moments too. The music was cool and the story line was awesome! Simba took on his uncle and the mean old hyenas and then him and Null a (the lion he loved) got together and they had a lion cub of their own. My daughter just loved this movie, and part two was cool as well.
