So how do you actually explain moveis made for kids.? Is it something exclusively made for kids, and grown-ups have nothing to do with it? Or is it one that has kids in it, and they are the ones who provide the entertainment for one and all? Either way that I see it, these movies are fun to watch, bring out your best in yourself. They are light on the head and heart, and you feel nice after it is over.

Now, to tell you about the 5 movies that fall into this category and have touched my heart time and again, here goes.

1) Never Ending Story - The title song, from this film sung by Limahl, still buzzes around in my head. This was a fantasy story, about a boy, who finds an unusual book in a bookstore, and has a cool adventure through it. He, who is bullied by other boys, finds courage to save the world in the book. They say imagination is a wonderful concept, and it is just that what is given flight.

The special effects are cool, and it is a must see by everyone who is young at heart.

2) Mary Poppins:supercalifragilisticexpialidocius: This wonderful word found its way to my memory from this magicalm, starring Julie Andrews in yet another memorable role, with Dick Van Dke, who is amazing. The story in short is about the banks family, and their neglected kids. Their lives turnaround, when Mary Poppins floats down to their house to become their governess. Their adventures together with her friend Bert(van dye), she starts setting things right with music n magic. There are some memorable scenes like the jumping into the painting, the chimne song etc. The songs are fun too.be it the supercali.or a spoonful of sugar or chim chim cheree. This film is absolutely fabulous. A must for your collection.

3) Home Alone I & II. The adventures of Mccaulay Culkin, though predictable were enjoyed by all who saw these films. With his boyish charm, he enthralled us in this film. How he outwits the crooks who come to rob his house, after he was left Home alone for the holidays(the first film), was enjoyable.

4) Miracle on 34th Street: This is a festive film, about The X'mas season and Santa Claus. Mara Wilson(the cute kid from Mrs Doubtfire) plays The role of Susan who doesn't beleive in Santa Claus. Incidently, The real Santa is hired to play the role of the store Santa. Susan starts to believe that he is the real one, but he has to prove himself, by fulfilling her task. What happens next is what the film is all about. Mara is absolutely adorable, and this film is just great.

5) Matilda - This is based on a story by Roald Dahl. The story about a girl Matilda(Mara Wilson), who is born into the worst possible family( Danny devito & Rhea Perlman). Left alone, she grows up reading everything in sight. She graduates to books from libraries. On being taunted by her father, she even avenges herself.

It is when she is sent to school, that she encounters another nightmare. This being the principal, who looks like a Nazi General. She also befriends her class teacher, and they bond well. It is here that Matilda, uses her telekinetic powers, and gets the better of the principal. The film has its share of special effects, but the main thing that takes u on a high is the lovable performance of Mara Wilson. She sure is cute.

There are other good mentions as well, like Baby's day out, cat from outer space, Stuart Little, Casper, Dennis, Willy wonka and the chocolate factory, babe(this deserves a special mention - well thought out story). But I chose the ones that are non animated and the best of what I loved most.
