Believe it or not I still watch children’s films, and I enjoy them very much. My favorite children’s film within the last two years was “Chicken Run” I loved the animation in that movie along with lively British accidents of these animated characters. The plot was also excellent. I loved how the director and writer of “Chicken Run” directed our attention to a world of chickens in despair; their adventure when planning their escape from Mr. and Mrs. Tweedy’s chicken farm is quite touching and exciting. Yes folk’s children’s films are special because they always have a special meaning to them along with a valuable lesson for children.

My choices for the five best children’s films are:

1. “Chicken Run” in this delightful animated movie a flock of chickens is raised on the farm of a husband and wife. Unless these chickens escape they will be slaughtered and sold as merchandise. Their adventure when meeting an American (Mel Gibson, “Ransom”) chicken that flies and escaped from the circus becomes their source of hope. The chickens hope their new arrival will be the turning point of their escape from the farm. Will he help these chickens escape? You’ll find out what happens when you purchase this outstanding children’s movie. “Chicken Run” is written and directed by Peter Lord and Nick Park.

2. “The Lion King” is no doubt one of Walt Disney’s best-animated films released. In this outstanding movie writers and directors Rob Minkoff, and Roger Allers takes us inside the world of the king of the jungle, the lion. In this movie a prince is faced with guilt after his father is killed by Scar, a lion who wants to rule the kingdom along with the hyenas. The young prince flees the kingdom after he’s told by Scar that it was his fault that his father was killed. It is later revealed who really killed the King, the prince returns to rule the kingdom with a heavy price of war. This delightful tale is well written and well directed. “The Lion King” is a must see movie.

3.“The Grinch That Stole Christmas” in this Dr. Seuss classic, the writer directs our attention to the Christmas holiday and the town of Who-ville. Who-ville is a town that loves Christmas. But the Grinch a green mean-spirited creature hates Christmas and makes every attempt to prevent the townspeople of Who-vile from celebrating Christmas. He brakes into their homes and steals everything insight that pertains to Christmas. The Grinch will later find out the true meaning of Christmas because of the townspeople of Who-ville. Legendary actor the late Boris Karloff does an outstanding job narrating this wonderful holiday classic.

4. “ET the Extra Terrestrial” Steven Spielberg did wonders when he directed and wrote this most outstanding movie. In this movie a child-like alien lands on earth after his space ship leaves him behind. A little boy who discovers him in his garage befriends this child-like little creature. Their friendship is what makes this film heart-touching.

5. ''The Wizard of Oz'' I will always cherish this jewel of a children's musical. In this movie a little girl has a dream of her adventure to a strange land where witches, midgets, and monsters are real. Her journey to the land of Oz to meet its wizard makes this movie wonderful to watch. The late Judy Garland was excellent in her portrayal as Dorothy along with the other characters she meets on her journey to Oz. This is also a brilliant children's fantasy. This movie was released in 1939 it is directed by Victor Hemming, and Richard Thorpe (I) it is based on L. Frank Baum's Novel The Wizard of Oz.

This is my choice of the 5 most outstanding children’s films of the century. I hope you will enjoy these films as I did. If you’ve seen them already I’m sure you probably enjoyed them.

Thanks for reading
